| Elliott Smith – I Don't Think I'm Ever Gonna Figure It Out Lyrics | 15 years ago |

The lyrics are not limited to drunk situations. Reminds me of my father. He always questions what people's motives are and always expresses what his motives are so there is no lack of understanding. |

| The song is about misunderstood communication amongst people who put themselves in shitty(drunkeness) situations. | |
| Heatmiser – Plainclothes Man Lyrics | 15 years ago |

You're everybody's second home Always trying to get me alone An easy way to lose it all Always there when all else fails Over by the west side rails But I don't really need that now I never really did anyhow I only really needed alcohol Something that'd treat me okay And wouldn't say the things you'd say ^^----------- Most of the song is nebulously connected with tons of emotional imagery. These lyrics are self explanatory in a non-direct way. Always reminds me of my first relationship and my contempt for all the sadness it brought to me. ---------------- Please turn out the light I get a sick confusion headache Trying to figure out who's right Dreaming on the silver strand Waking up to plainclothes man You little bastard, little boy in blue Someone's gonna get to you And fuck up everything you do ^^----------------- This part is where it becomes transparent as to who the speaker is speaking to. He speaks both for himself for the listener, and you feel it because of how profoundly satirical and angry the lyrics are built up with his voice; alienated feelings are intensely revealed. ^^----------------------------- He's so unhappy inside He's serious with everyone And he thinks he'll win you with his angry kiss Acting like he has no needs Wanting you to watch him bleed ------------------- This is the aftermath. Harsh feelings and judgment. The classic case of the Victim vs the Executioner. Once again, it's vague. You don't know if he is talking about himself or about someone else. It was obviously written this way on purpose to keep the satirical vibe (which helps drag the listeners emotions out, just like magic). ---------- Made for each other bet you pay me any mind Just goes to show my continual decline They say that I'll recover my love of her once in a while But I don't know I don't think so ^-------------------- Again, vague yet it feels direct. ---------------------------- There's something that I'll tell you now Now that no one else is around The sort of lesson that I learned from you Not quite the way you planned But I know you'll understand Someone takes a photograph A picture while their sweetheart laughs A perfect moment in a flash of light Counting back from three till one That's exactly what you've done ^--------------------- Everyone that still has a heart will feel these lyrics deeply. ----------------------- And I'm so Unsurprised I remember, I remember why I dream in black and white Goes to show my continual decline They say that I'll recover My love of her Once in a while But I don't know I don't think so I don't think so ^------------------- These last quarter of the lyrics are what sums the story up. It consists of feelings of remorse, denial, unforgiven feelings, and a general hollowed out vibe. |

| Slipknot – All Hope Is Gone Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Yeeup. Do and say what you devotely believe in. Love and hate are virtually the same stupid-ass attribute if there is no wisdom. Wisdom... theres something we don't see much of these days... I think Cory Taylor can be vainglorious, but respectfully, I do admire him because he speaks humanity. |

I'm not even depressed about this shit anymore, it's just magnificient. YOU CAN ALWAYS RELY ON HAVING NO CONTROL. BeST FEELING ON THE PLANET! Why are people so afraid of death??? The only bad part about death is the dieing part! |

| Slipknot – My Plague Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Those who are judgemental and worry about EVERYTHING are the ones who need to fuck off. In this song"My Plague" or, "My Legacy" (depending on your perspective), Cory is saying exactly what a civilized 21st century person needs to admit to themselves. People need to feel emotion, and afterwards they need to analyze why they felt those emotions. Reading through this song is a great example. Consider the ones who redicule you, consider the source of their ridicule and you'll find out that these assholes are just insecure fucks who build up their ego by being shitheads. In the end, what people hate about other people is the same shit they hate about themselves. "I'm just a bastard, but at least I admit it At least I admit it!" So if you were honest to yourself in reading these lyrics, you'd realize that, if you are wise, you will come out on top. Afterall, what is love and hate without wisdom? Philosophy is everything. |

| Mudvayne – Skrying Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Oh how I love this song... Well, first off, everyone who has added to the description has done very well. I must, of course, point out a few minor details. Skrying has much to do with a tarrot reading... however, if you spell it "scrying", it means "To see or predict the future by means of a crystal ball.", which sums up the rest of what may have been confusing in the line "I see death coming". ALSO, the word :introverted: does NOT describe negative or positive... it can be used as a noun, adjective, or verb (wonderful word choice Chad!) "a person characterized by concern primarily with his or her own thoughts and feelings (as opposed to extrovert )." |

| Mudvayne – A Key To Nothing Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The song is displaying the way the world is becoming. There really are no more politics, religion, freedoms etc, under the corporate system we are developing. He isn't speaking through his mouth, rather, he is speaking through yours (the listener). "i'm washing my hands, of everything... of everything we are" The lyrics speak through the listener's(your), basically saying that we all want the same damn things; equality, prosperity etc. But we are so willing to give up our moral values for these things. We are stuck within the constant confusion we see on TV. We glorify our stupidity, every day, in our entertainment. The global money system (corporations) have helped destroyed our ability for human emotions, and for empathy and nobility; which obliterates all sense of our purpose and unity. Hence... "murder... murders in the hands... of motion... as it seems to be" Duality is expressed perfectly in this rant. An impressive Mudvayne song. There is tons of wisdom to be found in Chads lyrics. He displays this type of art in all of his music: "Darkness within darkness, the gateway to all understanding" |

| Slipknot – Snuff Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"If you still care, Don't ever let me know!" Who can't relate? This song is for all of those who fell in a deep love-spell with the WRONG person. Most definately will be over-played on the radio one day. But i can't imagine ever getting sick of this song. |

| Elliott Smith – Say Yes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
to express oneself is to give a peice of yourself away. Expressing yes is what we all want to hear more often , yet, more often than not, we say no as our primal defense before hurting ourselves any further. It's a heart felt, well written, precarious plea. A sophisticated love song. Either way, its a love song |

| Elliott Smith – Happiness/The Gondola Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
i just got the chords, and I figured out the beginning and end about a month ago. I can now play this song through and through, and i must admit - its intense to sing with it. It's a release of memories and good and bad, and they all wash away for no known purpose, and no answers as to who is to blame. Just like death seems to be. Someone and something you would of willingly died for. This song, unlike most elliott wrote, creeps the hell out me because of his passing. Chills go down my back when i play and sing it; i feel as though elliott smith's spirit is standing right next to me. And sometimes when i cover his songs, i am certain that it's true - that he is still wandering. Hopefully, his spirit finds his way to the light. |
