This song.. is a musical version of the book 'Shatter' by Michael Robotham. In my opinion, anyway. For those who haven't read it, it's about a guy who makes people kill themselves by manipulating their minds and driving them insane. These lyrics fit with that theory.. for example, take, 'I can tell you why people die alone,' or 'I can tell you why people go insane, I can show you how you can do the same.' - These lines indicate a knowledge of a person's inner mind, he's saying he's seen the human psyche, and he's broken it, (perhaps relating to the 'shadow on the sun' line) and can do the same to anyone. And I believe the verse that starts with, 'Shapes of every size..' (which happens to be some of my favourite lyrics ever written) indicate that he knows what insanity is like, because he's been there. There used to be a human, a soul inside his skin, but now there is not. |

i love this song! i think it may be about a relationship that was just about the passion, "Burning with desire It’s what you take from me patiently" and suddenly they realised that there was nothing behind it. "Every time you acted like a stranger", and then she began cutting everyone off, and then trying to go back to them, "Burn all your bridges and learn That this could take a while" and then he's blaming her for causing all of it, but denying it, "And just pretend you didn’t start the fire" and they're both trying to work out if they're good for each other, "Could you tell a killer from a savior?" idk. just my interpretation. |
