| Death Cab for Cutie – Photobooth Lyrics
| 14 years ago

Ben Gibbard introduced this song at Sasquatch Music Festival as being "about Bellingham, Washington." Aka, the town where Death Cab started and where he went to college. Having lived in Bellingham all my life, I can sort of see how it references it, though those references are fairly generic. There are many cities, particularly in Western Washington, where you're liable to find your lawn turning into your living room over the summer; the cold air blowing through as the summer ends is hardly a unique experience either. More accurately, I'd say that this is "about [Ben Gibbard's] experience as a college student in Bellingham, Washington." The only thing I want to know is what the hell happened to that photobooth after the mid-90's. |

No kidding. I'm usually not a fan of instrumentals either, but BSS are the masters of the extended instrumental. Hell, I wasn't even a fan of this song before I saw them live where they played an ending one-two of Cause=Time and this, complete with like 2 minutes of extended instrumental on each. Such a ridiculously amazing experience. |

Pretty sure you're trying to look into this WAY too hard, glowe. Best Coast's lyrics aren't written to reference some obscure incident. They are straightforward and easy to understand, at most referencing an experience from the life of the song writer. A rather generic experience at that. |

| Broken Social Scene – Sentimental X's Lyrics

In a way, I think it relates to the people singing it, and other "Sentimental [e]X[-member]'s" of BSS. Most of this album was done by 7 core members, in fact I believe this is the only song on the album where others play or sing, namely Emily Haines, Amy Millan, and Feist. It feels like the whole "on and off" and "friend you used to call" lines could relate to all the other non-core members who were featured on past albums on and off, called up for various songs and not the others. All for one, and one for all. |

Well it's more like someone yelling "DUDE!" then someone saying "Va-Vagina" into the mic as if to sound-check, but yes, it's there albeit very quiet. |

| Los Campesinos! – Coda: A Burn Scar in the Shape of the Sooner State Lyrics

I'd agree with this-I believe though that it does relate to the title of the song at very least. The Sooner state (aka Oklahoma) is a land locked state that's not particularly known for water in any capacity. I don't really care to analyze beyond, in terms of the burn scar and etc. under this interpretation, but you'd be amiss to completely discount the inclusion of the Sooner state in the lyrics/title. |

On their Myspace, they have the quote "We're in the prime of your youth." When trying to relate that to this song, I'd say it hints heavily at not being related to their band's experiences so much as relating to you, the listener's youth and giving you the advice to Live it Out. |

I'm pretty sure you're looking way too deep into it Nearsightedninja. When MTB lyrics are referring this openly to alcohol and smoking, particularly in this early stuff, it's really doubtful they're going for some sort of hidden meaning, they just mean exactly what they say. The singer's admiring this beautiful woman roll cigs and drink vodka and invites her to smoke and drink all night with him. |

I think there's a missing line.
"Transparent in the city today
Our basic program is the same
We're the only"
Should have a line I can't completely understand, but believe to say "This air we breathe" after "Transparent in the city today." |

I personally love this song, I can relate to it really well and it does a fantastic job of explaining the feeling. At least one of my parents is home 98% of the time, that 2% where they aren't.... they're at the store. But those few hours they're away each week are great, I don't have to worry about them bugging me at all about anything, I can just sit there and blast my music and do whatever else I want. Then, I see them getting home in the driveway and have to turn my music down and get back to not being free. It's not that I do much different stuff at all, it's just the freedom of not having my parents around for a few hours, for the sake of having that freedom. |
