Personally, I prefer the raw garage-esque sound that you hear on the Chords version of this song.. I have a soft spot for garage bands... heh. But this song to me is beautiful, as others have said, it figuratively ploys out the fakeness of people, and how they 'let down their hair', until the 'audience' leaves. Also for the person that said the line "I'm definatly shaking' may be sarcasm, something to support this is on the chords version, on how he always let's out a cheerful 'WOO!' after every time the lines repeated. I've related to this song for sad times and happy times, and that's just the beauty of open-interpretation. |

This song makes my stomach churn. It's my exact situation, my exact exact situation, except for the genders are reversed. All last summer we stayed in his room, smoking, drinking, having sex and listening to jazz, we went out and did stuff, but the most memorable times were just cuddling and staying in his bed all day long without a care in the world. We had a bad bad break up, and I saw him again recently. Not at the store though, but at a show. I did not speak to him, but I chain smoked and convinced myself that it's best not to speak to him. Oh how I miss him so. And this song just brings me to those times. |

Heh, I love this song.. I believe it's pretty self-explanitory. Two young lovers or 'sensualists' are spending time together, perhaps visiting somewhere or going on vacation, and they both are having a great time just being silly and having fun with eachother, with a gist of love behind it. The woman, I assume, had a friend named Patty, whom the man took a bit too much interest into, and probably had sex with Patty... destroying the relationship he had with the original woman. "You were angry then, and maybe still and wont be friends " Is describing the outcome of his affair with Patty.. he destroyed the friendship between his 'woman' and Patty, and they are no longer friends. And of course "You were an honest pal, but I wasn't always right somehow" Just refers to them having innocent fun, but him doing something wrong.. like cheating. The girl was faithful, but he just was keen to mistakes.. somehow. |

Oh how I love this song, listening to this gives me a longing feeling of nostalgia. It's about a feeling that everyone experiences.. longing. This song perfectly describes the feeling you have when you love someone, but you can never say it. It's on the tip of your tongue, and you could never get the nerve to say it.. but no they're gone. "Now that I'm alone, I can finally say the words that wouldn't come any other way" It's self explanatory. Beautiful. |

To me, this song is of a woman walking through a busy city and the event of a very recent break up is just now solidifying in her mind. She's alone in a city with so many people. She's disconnecting to separate herself from everyone, to restart herself, but she will never forget how hurt she is because of this. She calls out for him, but he is gone. She is slowly recovering, and wants to show him how much better she is now, but he's gone. And she's simply just alone. Just one day in New York City it began, the pain she will never forget. The song is almost self explanatory. |

| Heh, today is my last day of summer vacation, and I am listening to this song.. I agree the opening line.. really describes summer.. In my personal meaning, it's just summer went by so fast.. sigh.. and working a job consuming most of the time of the summer you could have been spending having fun.. So everything is hazy.. just work during summer, eating out of TV trays, not being able to afford anything else, and going right back to school. | |
