It's about a guy dissapointed by the way he and his friends/group/couple/whatever situation you can put the lyrics into/ acts towards each other, with routinary standards and a worn (correct word? I mean, something that's been lasting for long, not years, but 5+ of them, and it's being collapsing day by day. Sorry me being non-natural English speaker) relationship where he and everyone is feeling way too uncomfortable with the situation. So he's calling a break. Let's add points to the idea: I don't feel good Just an ordinary day As I said, routinary, he can expect (almost) every reaction. I don't care much About what you think This is more like a "stop fighting", for some reason, I get the idea here he starts talking to his friends/etc about how he feels: It all wash's away In the end Under the skies so gray In the end Announcing a final or something We're all dead inside Cant deny what is real The pain I feel Dead inside Cant deny, all the suffering Its just my way Dead Inside meaning the cords snipped. He can't deny it, suffers from it, and sees everyone suffering. I've seen enough No more hurt today All damage is done No more life this way I've seen enough adding more strength to the idea that it's a long relationship, the following 2 lines asking to stop the repetitive actions and the last life to call a break, no one seems to deserve it anyways. Every single one From every single way All they do is drag me down And I know it'll never change Every drop of blood Flows right down the drain Although I spilt it all for you You'd never appreciate You'd never appreciate His point of view about how he tried to bring a better moment in whatever mean, but now he knows it's impossible to change the situation, he had tried his all (blood reference going down the drain) and everything went, not only wrong, but receiving the worst reply possible, no one paid attention anyway. Well, at least I can feel it that way, maybe me fighting several times with my friends this year helps me to treat this song like this, but on the other hand, it seems too clear and everything fits so smoothly... well, I'll see replies if any :) |

I agree in general with Ahamkara, tough I think something more as a relationship than ended so bad for the main character that he'll try to see what the fuck did he did to deserve that (sine he seemed to faked being well to maintain a good time, but every time they crosses pathes his ex-lover treats him so unfairly) by trying to "ask", not so nicely, hence the "Show your wounds, I'm bored with mine" line and the constant taunting lines giving an impression of "I least I want to see you sad about this, sad as I was" Hope I explained it well... I'm kinda clumsy with explanations :P |

I have panic disorder (or panic attacks if you don't find it by the other name... geez, English is not my mother language), and this are pretty much many of the sympthoms. I've been sick from this since 2006 >_> Wouldn't be surprised if the writer didn't do drugs but suffered of this when he write this song, who knows. |

I live in a "Nothingtown", on a city that always seems to be sleeping. I kinda understand the feeling of escaping the city, dreaming of having a life in a city that offers you what you want, but at the same time, because of usual problems like health or money, you can't escape and must tolerate living here, a little more time. Hopefully, I'll escape my Nothingtown next year, but this song it's so freaking close to my reality that I like to "understand" it this way. |

They played like Green Day because they wanted to send a message to them, or so I think, because I think the song it's about how critics/fans/people in general acts towards Green Day and The Offspring, and a whole generation of bands. I will give some impressions: "It’s all inside your head All ripping it up in shreds I know someday you’re gonna fall" This is talking about disband rumours. Let's remember The Offspring was believed to released their 7th album (Splinter) and disband, luckily they continued. Idk much about Green Day situation, but maybe it's similar. It's all inside our (press/fans) heads. "And I don’t wanna say I told you so But I told you so Now you’ve lost control And I don’t wanna be the rise and fall So gimme more or nothing at all" Maybe some conversation about how the bands are now controlled by contacts and so. Let's remember The Offspring had to release Splinter mainly because of the "4 albums in 10 years" contract. Idk if now they're "free" about releasing albums when they want, but it seems Green Day "lost control" after American Idiot success and must rush things. About the Rise and Fall, is how about both bands are now, IMHO, Conspiracy was a big fall, Splinter a bit of a Rise, Greatest Hits a little fall, and they hope this new album is a Rise again. "You’re in an awful way Sucked in by what you crave They just can’t wait to see you crawl And you can only laugh Give in to the other half They’re only tearing down your walls" I think this is how the Records Companies are treating bands nowadays. "Rise and fall is Good and evil, Appearance and reality, Judgment and reflection. It is to judge and to be judged, To dream and to accept. It is Triumph and despair, Wish and realization, And we are both." The different actions that happens when you "rise" or "fall" as a band. And now, I'll explain what's the first part to me, because it'll be best explained NOW, hehe "This time you’re really dead Once followed, but always led You thought you’d rise above it all" you can translated to Now you're under contract People wanted your music, now a company does You thought you could "jump" over "the company" Well. It's a good album. Strong lyrics, but the musical content it's not so good in some song. It's 7/10 to me, but way better than Conspiracy, and without "crappy songs" as Splinter had. |
