The line he sings is "And I'm dancing like every song he spins is Bis"
It's a reference to the Scottish indie pop band Bis. It's awesome that Bis is getting a shoutout. |

Your interpretation makes sense to me and I was thinking something along the same lines when I first heard the song. I don't know why somebody voted you down. |

Yeah, I'm just south of Omaha (and was at the time of the shooting as well) and I remember hearing about it on the local news. It was really shocking that this kid lived like 10-15 minutes from us. Remember when the Omaha Metro was all terrified and shocked that this happened in their area, but glad they were glad they didn't go to the mall that day? That's what happened with us. It was a tragedy.
I love the song, though, even if it's chilling. |

I think samgidley and bmullen728 are right about this being about the Von Maur shooting (AKA Westroads Mall shooting). I live about 20-30 minutes from the Westroads Mall (located in Omaha, Nebraska) where it happened and I remember hearing about the shooter (a kid named Robert) on the local news. The kid lived not far from me. From what I recall, the kid had a background similar to what's hinted at in this song. He was a mentally disturbed person. So sad.
This song brings back memories from hearing that tragedy on the news. It was a big thing throughout the country, but Bellevue and Omaha were kind of on edge because, you know, when something like this happens locally, people are going to both worry about their safety but at the same time think, "You know, I'm glad I didn't go to the mall today." We were actually contemplating going to the mall sometime within the week of the shooting, and I'm pretty glad we didn't.
Yeah, thinking back about that, this song has some definite similarities. |

This song is really good, though. I just heard it for the first time a few minutes ago. |

I agree with headbangforjesus. That's a good point.
But think that there might also be a second meaning to this song. When the guy is traveling (to "48 states and a few different worlds"), he finds that God never leaves His children ("Never the righteous man forsaken"). |

GetsomeARRR, your comment was rude, unwanted and completely irrelevant. For your information, I found Validus' comment quite interesting. And just so you know, you spelled "you're" wrong.
I think the same as most of the people here. This couple is in love and the time just "dies" when they're together. |
