Does this song remind anyone else of an online relationship? "Your fingertips across my skin The palm trees swaying in the wind Images" The word images makes me think that the person imagines them meeting... To me this song is about how one person was really serious about the relationship and couldn't get the other person off their mind because they thought the other person felt it too You sang me Spanish lullabies The sweetest sadness in your eyes Clever trick but it was meaningless to the other person and they soon got bored of using them and broke contact, but the first person still can't stop thinking about them even though she knows that they're being used and they should just get over it Should've known you'd bring me heartache Almost lovers always do They can't take their mind off of the other person and they think it's unfair how they're left with all this pain and these memories even though they meant it all along and they were being honest so they dont deserve it but they can't help feeling it anyway I cannot go to the ocean I cannot drive the streets at night I cannot wake up in the morning Without you on my mind So you're gone and I'm haunted And I bet you are just fine it's impossible to say no when you're haunted from the inside. |

| Question: What does the line "I need that heart, because you're always in the right places" represent if this is about Max? | |

" i think "i need your sway/cause you always pay for it" might refer to someone swaying either dancing or just falling drunk or on drugs, as that would explain why he/she paid for it" Thanks for that, I finally understand that bit now! That seems to tie in well. |

"Disobey my own decisions I deserve all your suspicions" I think she can't quite decide whether or not she's in love with him, because one minute she is because he does something nice, then he does something that hurts her without her realising and she doesn't any more. "First it's yes and then it's no I dilly-dally down to you, oh" Again, she's not sure whether she loves him. "But I've got no secrets that I battle in my sleep I won't make promises to you that I can't keep" I think this means that because she hasn't really made any comitments to him yet, she feels good about the fact that she hasn't made him a promise she can't keep, because she's not sure how she feels about him. "And you know that I love you Here and now, not forever I can give you the present I don't know about the future That's all stuff and nonsense" Here she's saying that yeah, she does love him, but she doesn't know if she's IN love with him - she can't promise to be with him forever in a commitment. She says the future is "stuff and nonsense" - for the first time, the future doesn't matter, and she is just focusing on what to do now, which leads me to verse 2. . . "I once lived for the future Everyday was one day closer Greener on the other side Yes I believe before I met you" I think this means how she - like me- was always reaching for the future and making plans to make her life better, but he made her realise that she shouldn't worry about that and she should think about now. It seems like she is saying this to herself, like how she used to always know exactly what to do next and she mapped out her life, and he came and she didn't know if she would stay with him or not - for the first time, she just didn't know. "But I soon learned your love burned Brighter than the stars in my eyes Now I know how and when I know where and why" She realises that he really does love her very much, and isn't pushing her to a decision, but she knows it annoys her which is why she wishes she knew whether or not to stay with him. They are both desperate in a different way, and he wants to know the truth because he cares about her but she just doesn't know. He keeps it to himself but she can see it in his eyes, along with raw love. And you know that I love you Here and now not forever I can give you the present I don't know about the future That's all stuff and nonsense This is probably not the official meaning, it's just what I think this means. |

| I can really relate to this song right now. There's a guy who I love - or thought I loved - and all he wants to do is make out and stuff. yeah, that's important, but we never even talk any more, or anything like that. Despite the fact that I'm almost positive that I'm just something on the side, I can't help feeling attracted to him. I think this is what this song is about - she is being used, but she loves him anyway because of who he once was. | |
