It sounds like he has been watching this girl pretty much wreck her life and he sounds concerned when he says " why can't you see, what you're doing to yourself" but at the same time so dissapointed during the whole song and maybe angry but he might also like the way this girl looks he jusy migt wish she wasn't ruining her life. |

I think this song is in the point of view of a parent talking to most likely their teenage kid because teenagers are usually looked at as "weak and reckless" and i think most of us could agree we don't want to end up like our parents like they say "Look at what we've all tried not to become" |
