| Heart – All I Want to Do Is Make Love to You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I agree, the song is lame 80's anthem-rock (though I do like the story behind the lyrics.) To Heart's credit though, they didn't write it. Heart also claimed in the liner notes of a later live album that they didn't like the song and had stopped playing it live. |

I often wonder if this song was meant to be a nod to Billy Joel's "Just The Way You Are". The music and the message are both very similar. |

| Ben Folds Five – Don't Change Your Plans Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think this song is about a relationship vs. career issue. He initially wants to stay out east with his girl, even though he has thought about moving to L.A. -- a big city with a lot of possible opportunities. By the end of the song, however, he has realized that "destiny's calling" and that he needs to move on with his life and leave the girl he loves, and so he does. The final line "I love you, goodbye" sums up the whole paradox in the rest of the song -- he loves her, but he ultimately has to leave her. |

| Genesis – The Battle Of Epping Forest Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The final verse of this song is one of the greatest satirical commentaries about war I've ever heard. All the fighters on both sides of the battle have been killed; the leaders realize that the war was all in vain and they still haven't settled their disagreement. So what do they do? They FLIP A COIN!!! Brilliant. |

| The Velvet Underground – I Found A Reason Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Anyone else think the country-style demo version is a lot better than the version that appeared on the original album? | |
| The Velvet Underground – Here She Comes Now Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Anyone ever notice how the title of this song -- except for one word -- is a direct variation on "There She Goes Again"? | |

Was the murder in this story intentional or accidental? Discuss. |

| The Velvet Underground – I'm Sticking with You Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This was my best friend's wedding song, played as he and his new bride walked down the aisle. I could hear quite a few chuckles in the congregation as it played. I love Maureen Tucker's voice. I wish they could have let her sing on more songs...I think "I'll Be Your Mirror" would have sounded great with her on vocals. |

| Corey Hart – Sunglasses at Night Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| In the 1980s, sunglasses were a common fashion for people who wanted to adopt a "tough guy" persona (note all the cop shows from that era -- Simon & Simon, Miami Vice, etc. -- where the lead characters wore shades). So I think this song is about a guy who wears shades as a way of hiding his insecurity after learning that his girlfriend is cheating on him. He's trying to pretend that he's a "tough guy" to hide the fact that his girlfriend's affair is disturbing him. | |
| Genesis – A Trick Of The Tail Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Tony had been working on this song since 1972, so it couldn't have been about Gabriel leaving. FWIW, I think this is the best "pop" song Genesis ever did. |

| Sigur Rós – Ó Fridur Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The actual title of this song is "Ó friður" (not "Fridur" -- that's not an Icelandic word.) | |
| Sigur Rós – Sæglópur Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Should we put up the lyrics from the first part of this song? This is how I think they go (judging from some interpretations I've seen on message boards): Þú ert refur Þú, þú hefur á loft Á loft, já Á loft Á loft, já Þú líður Ó, ó friður...aleinn Aleinn, já Aleinn Aleinn, já Also, I think the ending line is actually "Það kemur kafari á morgún" ("A diver comes tomorrow/in the morning") |

| Windsor Drive – The Forest Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I first saw Windsor Drive in Stevens Point, WI when the boys were still in high school, and I've been hooked ever since. This is probably their best song. The ending instrumental is amazing -- listen closely and you can hear that the piano, cello and guitar are each playing separate parts, yet they all blend together as one...awesome. | |
