| Brock is discussing the balance of life, and how just because we made our material world more inhabitable (referring the inventions part of the song), it wasn't necessary. | |

| The subject of the song is pretty obvious. It is not about something as simple as a promotion of anything like that. In a way it is simpler than that. Missed the Boat is about our minds and how we have the ability to achieve self worth and happiness within ourselves, yet so many look outside of that for happiness and purpose. | |

This song basically described the night I decided never to do acid, pot, shrooms, or basically any of the things I have been forcing down my throat for the past few months. I stopped caring to go out into the world, and the internet became my home away from home. I ended up turning off all of the clocks, and coming home to my mom who was asleep in complete horror. I called to her, "I have to show you something!" I threw my entire stash down onto the ground in front of her, told her I had been smoking pot daily for a few months now, and that I was currently on acid. Everything in this song reminds me of what was wrong with my mind during that period of time, and I love the song for that reason alone. Oh, and the song is amazing, besides the metaphorical use I have given it. |

This song could be considered a tale of someone realizing the greatness that they can achieve, but it won't ever be appreciated by the rest of the world, as shown by the second part of the song lyrics. The first part has whoever the song is about realizing that they were meant for greatness, but they are afraid and hide anything they have to show for. But the second part shows the character seeing something that has been there the entire time, maybe something that was great, made by another person, but it was ignored or shunned, and finally forgotten in plain sight. It unlocked something within the character, and he or she did everything they could to get to whatever was hidden in plain sight. Meanwhile, everyone gathers around, wondering what the hell this person is going on about. The character, not wanting to show anything of value and wanting to keep this greatness to themself, got them all to go away. Now, finally, the character got to what they were looking for and feel like they have achieved something until he or she realizes that they still the only ones to realize whatever its greatness is. Or I could just be reading into all of this WAY too much. |
