I adore this song. It takes a lot to make me stand up and say such a thing. With the charts full of meaningless lyrics this is breath of fresh air. I understand how it can be about London. It resonates with me on why I live in the city. For all the awful things which happen within it, London is still a great city because of the connections we choose to make. When I first heard it I mistook: "Is there anything I can do for you dear? Is there anyone I can call?" for something to do with the 7/7 bombings. I don't think it does anymore but it would have made a great tribute song though. The lines: "I like it in the city when two worlds collide You get the people and the government Everybody taking different sides Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit Shows that we are united Shows that we ain't gonna take it Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit Shows that we are united" really would make you think about 7/7 but again, I think there isn't anything to it. |
