This song is definitely about a one-night stand. However, the thing is: he doesn't even try to justify it. He totally admits that he's living according to his desires and his instincts. He doesn't deny that he is a slave to his libido; he blatantly declares it. The beauty of the song lies in the title though--the fact that he plays possum for a peek. After a trashy night of casual sex, he still sees beauty in the woman he just slept with. He watches her putting her clothes on, as if she were doing it for him. The one-night-stand meant more to him than just a one-night-stand... |

The speaker has just gone through a phase in his life where he just grew up--he's changed (for the better, for the worse, we don't know). But, he's definitely changed, and now, he comes back to his old life--friends and family from way before. Things are different, he realizes. These friends, these people, all remind him of how he used to be...and he hates it. He doesn't want to be reminded of his past, of who he used to be, so he just wants to stay in tonight and not associate with all of these things. He's gone through so much already and he's a new, better person. Why bother going out and submersing yourself in all things past. |
