Dante's Prayer is based on Dante's Divine Comedy, let's remember that Loreena was reading "Inferno" when she wrote this, now even when the verses refers to places and environments in the book the chorus has something of her, She is linked to this song because in Spanish Literature Dante is one of the most important exponents of the "Travel in Literature" along with Odiseus, so I can state that the lyrics come from the bottom of her heart and consecrate her as a traveller. Actually, this is my favourite song among all. The Dark Night of the Soul is a translation of the Spanish Poem "Noche Oscura del Alma" and my classmates and I had to analyze it in Language Class, I'm Chilean by the way. It talks about the Mystic Love, makes a deep and beautiful reflection of the union of your Soul with God in the three characteristic steps of Mystic Love: Purificative, Iluminative and Unitive. I just love it, because it can be interpreted as a love story of two people at any time. Thanks Loreena for the best song of my entire life! |
