Chevelle – Vitamin R (Leading Us Along) Lyrics 17 years ago
Well first of all< I didn't actually get the idea of ritalin and drugs until I actually read the lyrics. But now that I have, that idea seems to make sense. Like many people have already says it has much more of a meaning behind it. Sure it's talking about how the government lies to us about taking pills and how the drugs have really serious side effects. But it also implies that we are being strung along by a government who want to make us all into mindless robots. The lines, "they're pushing it... and leading us along." makes me think about all of the advertising and propaganda that the government puts around us to keep us from knowing the truth (if anyone has seen the movie "the island" about the clones it gives us a really good idea of how the government tries to distract us from finding the truth) "over and over a slave become" we've become enslaved to the things that they have put around us and have become almost like lab rats for their evil expirements. As people we have to realize that instead of just mimicking what other people do and say, we have to push to figure out truth for ourselves!

Anyways just my thoughts, take care and God Bless!!!

Chevelle – The Clincher Lyrics 17 years ago
first of all I must say that I completely agree with hindisght5ight. It doesen't matter as much what the attended message was because people will always have different reactions to the music. That being said, to me it is a very emotional song, I hear a desperation in it and to me it is about Christ and the price he paid for us on the cross. I feel that he is feeling sadness and regret over the the death of his savior and that is why he is feeling suffocated. It sounds like he's wanting God's spirit to saturate him to save him from this feeling. Nyways obviously just an opinion, you are free to agree or disagree.

Peace and God bless!!!

Thrice – Weight Of Glory Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow!!! That's all I can say, all of Thrice's songs are so true, they're lyrics are amazing, I've never actually heard the song before but the words alone just blow me away! It is from John 8:3-12 in the bible and it's describing the hypocritisism of the pharisees and how Jesus Showed them that they being sinful men, could not judge another person by they're sins. It just goes to show that basic reigion doesen't get anyone anywhere if they have proud hearts. I think that we can all take a clue from these powerful words because I'm sure that all of us have fallen short of the mercy of God and need forgiveness. What right has one man to judge another by his sins? We are all imperfect! I love thrice and I hope that they continue to rock the truth because it's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thrice – That Hideous Strength Lyrics 17 years ago
Well I don't know who thought this was emo but thrice is definately not emo. If you really understood the lyrics you would know that. Oh and by the way, just because a band has emotional lyrics definately does not mean that you can label them as being emo. I think this is a metaphor for pain and is not meant to be taken literally. Besides, there are probably alot of people who can relate to this song. I think that what he's saying is that he wants to be heard & not only that but that he's hurting and he wishes someone would care. It's emotional but it's also hopeful at the end.

Thrice – Where Idols Once Stood Lyrics 17 years ago
This is an amazing song, the lyrics are just so right on. It's talking about how people make idols for themselves and have there own gods instead of worshipping the one true God. That first part in the song, " our idols lay in ruins... but we still choose to worship where our idols stood." means that even if our idols were not there, we would still worship something other then God. And it's so true, in our society we have made idols out of everything; money, power, celebrities, even philosophy. I personally believe that idolatry is loving anything more then we love God and we all are guilty of that from time to time. But it's so much more then that. When it says "our presuppositions set in stone" it's saying that as people we are often so stubborn/ set in our ways that the only ideas or perceptions that matter are our own. Wow once again, what an amazing song! I could keep on going on about it but I'll just keep it at that for now. I think everyone who reads this song could learn something from it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
