to me (regardless of the interview above, although it does explain a few things), this song is about conformity and how it destroys individuality and the prospect of a creative existence. it seems like a parody of the relationship between the trend-savvy people and the enigmatic, though omnipotent beings who decide what is or isn't "in". ..or something like that. |

our inhibition delineates our boundaries, so we're only as free or alive as we let ourselves be. "we are our own damn coffins" and as for the world being our coffin, sometimes life is beyond our control, or maybe our perspectives of reality based on how we've experienced life kill or inhibit us. and everything else people have said as well, just thought i'd digress from the whole death thing.. even though it is a pretty prominent theme. anyway, this is an awesome song, banjo really adds to it. |

i mostly agree with everyone, although i don't feel either way about the heaven and hell references. to me, this song is about people and how so many succumb to a sort of inertia, i suppose. i'm really fond of this song though.. i love the instrumentals. |
