I think that "you screamed his name, as I came in your direction" could mean that the guy whos being cheated on is walking over to her, and she's frightened he's gonna hit her and hurt her, so she screams to her lover for help I think its amazing that one man can take al his pain and turn it into the beautiful songs we get from BFMV.

I think "you screamed his name as I came in your direction" means that the girl knows he's going to hit her or hurt her, and she asking the other guy to help her. This song, my God if its based on a real life experience, can you actually blame Matt for the violent lyrics?

I think that the child Tuomas so often mentions is an actual child, not a metaphor, a child that died, probably HIS child. In this song, the lines "a woodenswing without laughter" and "sandbox without toy soldiers" are the things he had dreamed about sharing with his child, then after their death, the things dont seem right anymore. The childs toys without the child, all the dreams and hopes he had for his child, all gone. I think Dead to the World and For the Heart I Once Had are about this child too. But I could of course but completely wrong

I think that the child Tuomas so often mentions was a real child, born in 2000 ( Century Child). He says "little boy, such precious joy, is dead to the world". I think he means this literally, and we all are trying too hard to find a double meaning were there is none. I think Meadows of Heaven and For The Heart I Once Had are about this child too But I could be wrong about all of it

IMO, this song is about a guy who abuses his girlfriend, the first and second verses, but he begs her to comeback, (dont go, I never wanted anybody more) and she does. Then, when he's screaming you deserve it, he kills her in his rage. Then he begs her not to die (dont go) then he's still in love with her even though he's killed her ( youre mine).

I love this scene, Im playing Mrs Lovett in a drama group version of this play, and this is my favourite part. When Sweeney realises its Lucy he's killed, its so emotional and dramatic.

This song is so sad, she loves Sweeney so much but he can't see that because of the selfish actions of one man, ruining four lives-Sweeney, Lucy, Johanna and Mrs Lovett. I wonder how Helena Bonham Carter felt singing this song, acting like she was in love with her fiancees best friend while her fiancée watched...
