This song to me is about how she’s into this guy and it’s an obsession. She speaks about folding because these hands are too shaky to hold, like she knows it’s consuming her too much, and she knows the reality of it all it’s a hopeless to be had. Different lines she uses show how she’s obsessed such as: Huger hurts, and I want so bad oh it kills, I went crazy again today, a fail to kiss is a fail to cope. The first verse is her daydreaming about this boy she's obsessing over and wishing he would feel the same and there's a glimmer that he might like her, but in the end it "was just a paper bag" The second verse speaks more about her obsession with this guy, she's looking for any sign that he might feel the same, but she ultimately gets rejected, and feels disappointed, but at the same time comes to the realization that he's 'just a little boy' and not worth the effort. She put herself out there and didn’t feel justified, didn’t even get a kiss, and she’s almost pleading with him ‘come on put a little Love here in my void’ The chorus reinforces her obsession with this guy, but at the same time knowing she has baggage that he's not gonna wanna deal with, and because of that maybe she should just forget it because she might get hurt. Hunger hurts, but starving works when it costs too much to Love, she’s saying yeah it hurts to not be able to have this guy, but not having him protects her from getting hurt even more. | I Love this song! It's very solid lyrically, like all of Everclear's songs. To me this song is about supporting someone no matter what. Knowing that we all make mistakes and yet saying 'I just want to catch you when you fall down' like I'll be there no matter what when you need me. | |
