| Tegan and Sara – Dark Come Soon Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| the song is about finding comfort in the worst aspects of yourself. all of us have flaws, we lash out, we lie, we hurt people, and sometimes it feels better to do that than to do the right thing like be honest. | |

| this song is about the true horror of meth use. at first you think it's all fun and games but eventually it becomes sick and seedy. | |

i think this song is Billy telling his parents "I'm screwed up - but so are you" [the killer in me is a killer in you] "you can't hurt me anymore" [i send this smile over to you] the rest is about his shitty childhood. he felt alone and helpless [what's a boy supposed to do?] amongst other things this is his revenge for being put down, used and manipulated by his parents, who ruined his childhood. to me its a very frightening song. on the surface it is a very beautiful song, but underneath it is seething with unexpressed rage and hate. |

i think the 'sailing' part is definently a metaphor - not for 'touring', but something a bit deeper and more complicated. a predatory act of some sort. he is looking for, finding, and using these troubled women. by the end of the song he is no longer 'sailing for sport' because he feels guilty for it - 'these urgent lives press against me' i think this song is about a few intense flings Will had. But then he gets a taste of his own medecine with Holly. Notice in that part Holly is the one leaving 'over the sea' this time. And then Will decribes what seems to be a very emotionally difficult period in his life. Maybe coming to terms with how he had hurt people in his past. By the end of the song he wants a real relationship - 'pour yourself into me' |
