the beginning makes me think that the boy thinks he will "score" but the girl keeps him wondering, thus "round and round, make up your mind" striking out is obviously refering to the fact that she won't go very far with him. "you'll be right where every guy has gone before" perhaps this girl is a tease. anyways i love this song, very catchy =] |

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 used this song in its trailer anyways....its obviously about sex (BIG surprise) and i agree. i think the girl is older in this case but not by much. however, everyone is making a compelling acse for the boy being older and the whole getting away with it idea. so that makes sense too love this song =] |

first off, the movie Lolita is an adaptation from the book. there are two movies, one from the 60s and the other from the late 90s (i believe 1997) lolita is a term used to describe an underage girl who appeals to grown men since TMTS has made references in other songs, for example to Huey Lewis, i do believe them capable of connecting to book that has turned into a pop culture phenomenon i actually came upon this song when i had to do a project and find a song that connected to the book i read, which coincidentally was Lolita. which may also explain why i made connections from the book to the song |

i read the book lolita by vladimir nabokov in many ways, the song connects to connect it to the book, the cape part is about how lolita (a 12 year-old girl) was "in love" with a movie star. Humbert Humbert felt the need to change himself for her, thus putting on the cape. as well, may i add HH was a middle-aged man and Lolita's stepfather. he became obsessed with her despite the fact that she was under-age. I love this song and the band in general |
