"it's not a twilight song, it just happens to be in the movie." the world doesn't revolve around twilight (contrary to popular belief, apparently) and so every song with a meaning that can be applied to the type of relationship/struggle that a character(s) in twilight may have doesn't mean that that song was written specifically for the movie (though it is true that some songs indeed were- it doesn't mean that EVERY SINGLE song is). the reason it's such a good song is because (besides the fact that it sounds beautifully haunting) it can be interpreted in many ways and can be related to several types of relationships. that's when you know it's a song worth putting on your ipod. their other albums are worth putting on there too, ya know. i also love how if this song wasn't on the twilight soundtrack, not a single one of you fans would have discovered it. i also LOVE how this is the only song anyone has really bothered to comment on when blue foundation has TONS of other music that is definitely equally as good as this song. take the opportunity to open your mind to new music, not just become obsessed with one song by one band because it was in your favorite movie of your favorite book. it makes me glad to know that an underground band such as blue foundation has reached a mass amount of people who could connect with it, but it disheartens me to know that that connection is related to a fictional thing. why not try to apply it to your own life or a real life situation? take something from this song that's a little deeper than angsty, moody, whiney, overdramatic, sparkly vampires who engage in emotionally abusive relationships with other angsty, moody, whiney, overdramatic, sparkly vampires and non-sparkly, extremely pale humans. |

I think this is about seeing your ex again after totally being over them. He's moved on and he's actually fine with not being with anyone at the moment- He doesn't necessarily want to be with someone right now because he's totally content with himself. Then they broke up and once he's FINALLY over her, he sees her again. I think she's a little bit interested in him again or somehow shows that she's still into him, and he recognizes the fact that they used to be intense lovers and remembers what they had. But he's gone this whole time without her and he doesn't feel like there's a gap that needs to be filled. He totally has the opportunity to be with her again but he doesn't think he should do it because he wants to enjoy being perfectly fine on his own. Maybe it's the first time he's actually felt like he's happy that he's not with anyone and wants to savor the feeling because it's a nice, new, independent, and free feeling that is so new to him. I think the song has a somewhat sad tone to it, however, because because of his decision and feelings, he's walking away from something that he knows could potentially be amazing but he simply doesn't want it. He probably thinks it's horrible because he knows some people would kill to have their exes back and the old him would have in a heartbeat, but he's changed so much in such a way that he doesn't make impulsive decisions like that anymore and just wants to be on his own. This song describes exactly how I feel at this point in my life. I have an incredible connection with this song. |

I think this is about searching for love and finding it in someone but feeling kind of dumb for being so hung up on someone after just meeting them. This person brings something new and exciting to their life, and that's exactly what this person needs so they have some sort of attachment to them. "I dont know those eyes, but I see beauty there, always I know its wrong to love you from afar, but it's a craze" She doesn't know the person, but thinks she could potentially love them, for some reason. She "loves them from afar" by thinking about them too much [she thinks she's going crazy/"it's a craze"] The person is understanding and caring ["you recognize my pain"] and she sees that this person is also hurt, maybe fresh out of a new relationship. They both see that each other is hurting and surprise themselves when they begin to have feelings for each other because they don't really know each other that well. "and surprise each other with how we take away the pain" That's what i think. |

I mean if you think about it, if this song was being rapped by like 50 Cent or something, everyone would go "omg gang banger/drug dealer, etc etc" but since it's m.i.a. and she's fucking amazing and this song sounds upbeat, you can kind of forget about/ignore the undertones... He might be being criticized for being depressed from being hurt emotionally, which means he's showing his emotions, which isn't what a man is supposed to do in our society. Or he might be afraid of taking chances. Whatever the case, he's not acting how men are "supposed" to act (brave and fearless). "Call me sad, but how would you ever know? Maybe you'll be there, but just not today." The people doing this to him haven't been in the position he has, and once they are, they'll be hypocrites because they'll be acting the same way. |

"no one protecting you are you scared?" -Having protection means that there's something to defend against, which in this case would be the attacker. -And the "are you scared?" part... well, that's kind of obvious. Someone close to him has a disease that has no cure and they're going to die soon. Usually when people hear that type of news, they embark on a quest to make something out of their lives by teaching others about the disease or doing things they've always wanted to do and all that good stuff. This person instead probably lost hope, is depressed, and is now wasting their money, time, and life on drugs or alcohol. They're lying to their friends and themselves about their addiction. And this person is obviously close to him so he can see through this person's lies. He was able to keep his mouth shut for a while, probably in hopes that the person would change their ways, but they kept walking down the dark path and is now confronting them. He can definitely see through bullshit. Woo! :] |

I think it's about a housewife wanting to do something different from her everyday, predictable routine. Obviously, holding up people is exciting and unpredictable, and it gets your adrenaline pumping. She probably hasn't had many super exciting moments, or hasn't been paid much attention to. Her job is to clean, cook, take care of kids, etc., but she wants so much more than that. She wants attention, and she took it to the extreme by holding up people and getting on the news. |

This song is about him getting hot and heavy with his girlfriend and he's thinking about having sex, but if he did that night then it wouldn't be special. So I'm assuming they (or at least one of them) is intoxicated. It's his inner struggle (what he wants to do v.s. what the right thing to do is), and one that everyone will go through. He wants to have sex with her but he wants it to mean something, deep down he wants to wait. "Now is the time when I show you I love you one day we'll look back on tonight..." I think that means that when they finally DO have sex, and when it's meaningful, it will be even more special because she'll remember that he had a chance to take advantage of her but he didn't because he loves her so much, and that will make her love him even more. |
