teh lyrics are not correct imho... English is far from my native language, but even I hear 'living on my guard' except 'living under God'. As for me, this song is about breaking up with a girlfriend. Maybe, Royksopp didn't break up with his (no, I don't want him to, if he's got one), but as for me the song reflects the feelings of a man after some time after breaking up... when the understanding comes, and he ddoesn't suffer any more... he hasn't to care and fear about what his gf is doing and if she is safe... he understands that it is time to live on his own and care about himself... he understands that the relationship was a mistake, it was not a true love but something mixed up with lies, harm and pain that was tried to hide under shame... at least, the man from the song is happy in the end... everything is gone, no need to suffer any more |
