| Whitesnake – Slide It In Lyrics

A profound treatise on the inevitable interplay between romance and lust. Philosophical ground is certainly broken here, as the verse brings us to exalted highs, and chorus brings it home with a euphoric resolution. |

Wanted to post a follow-up and say that the theme presented in this song is probably the most profound thing I've heard. These simple words give me a message more powerful than any other thing I've heard from a song. |

| Neil Young – Cinnamon Girl Lyrics

When I hear this song I think of a girl who has fire in her soul. Someone who's passionate, outspoken, wild, free, and of course beautiful. "Cinnamon" not only represents a physical trait but all of the things I've just spoken of.
I wanna live with a cinnamon girl too. |

I'd like to start by saying that reading all of the interpretations by everyone is almost as awesome as hearing this song itself. They definitely make me think a bit harder about my own feelings on it.
To me, this song's theme is pretty clear: the preservation of innocence in the face of inevitable hardship. With a lot of Eisley songs the lyrics can never be taken literally. Some people have said that the chorus evokes images of someone trying to coax a child to sleep and that the sunlight will awaken him/her, but I imagine something more along the lines of the protagonist saying "even though darkness will come, you and I will stick together until the morning and then the new day will be all the more wondrous." I see the song's protagonist/s trying to shut out all of the bad things in life and create their own world where there are still such things as magic and wonder. Finally, even though this wonder can some times give them the "creeps", it's still an amazing thing to be able to find wonder in the world and not let the darkness drag them down. |

| Eisley – Telescope Eyes (LP version) Lyrics

I don't think I'd agree with dooditzaustin. They definitely have a Christian bent about them, and I believe in their very early days they referred to themselves as a Christian band but then probably realized to do so would be suicide for their musical careers. Considering their listener base, it's a very smart move on their parts to not mention anything religious and keep the music secular.
And I know that when you sign with a record label sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do. The band knew that emasculating this song would piss off their fans, but Warner saw the possibility to make a radio-friendly single, thus this song was born. |

This, like many Neil Young songs, just puts me into an amazing state of mind. His simple, yet powerful lyrics absolutely captivate me. I've been obsessed with this song in particular, listening to it over and over again in hopes that its true meaning will reveal itself to me. On the surface, I can see the theme of man's destruction of earth, but I believe there's much more to it than that. |

Well "pagana" can have two meanings based on what I know about romance languages. In Spanish, "pagana" has the same meaning as the English "pagan", but the word comes from the same Latin word meaning "rustic." This "rustic" meaning is still slightly there in Spanish. |

This is probably my favorite song by this crew.
Their lyrics are so hard to pin down. They have an ethereal quality of having many possible meanings, or no meaning at all. I feel that with many Eisley songs, there is a duality wherein each verse/line can be interpreted individually but the song as a whole has a meaning as well.
As far as this song is concerned, it makes me picture some sort of futuristic cyberpunk/fantasy setting, as strange as that is. There's definitely a message about technology here, but there are also references to fantastical magical events. |
