| Hurt – Dirty Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Lots of good ideas on interpretations of this song. I think a lot of them are spot on, although everyone will interpret it differently. I personally agree with NJCollins and TheRockGoddess915 the most. "I'd trade it all just for one touch, I'd give it all to be enough" are some of the most powerful words of this song, my idea of these words is his one touch was his son, if he could just hold him as a father should. He finds himself wishing he was more, that he was more capable so he may have saved his son. Very powerful and moving son, Hurt is one of the deepest and most lyrically intelligent bands I know of. | |
| Seether – Stay And Play Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Love this song, it sounds so underground, which is what they were when they released this song. And the speed to the song almost makes it sound punkish. Saron Gas at their best right here. | |
| Seether – Truth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Gavin Rossdale is a fucking puss wuss to Shaun Morgan, how can that fruit be any influence on him? | |
| Seether – Truth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Why does everyone assume every Seether song is about a relationship? I think it's pretty lame of everyone to think that's all their capable of. I saw a few comments that seemed to see where this song is going. I think it's about their record label, or the music industry. "I'm beaten down again, I belong to them." - He's been molded and changed, he belongs to them, he must do what they want. THEM is the record label, Shaun admitted several times in interviews that they often have disagreements with the producer or the recording company. Besides that, I love the guitar in this song, how they tweak it and make it sound grungish, really nicely done. The music video for this song is also pretty kicking. | |
| Seether – Driven Under Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| You all think this song is about Cobain's conspiracy murder!? How fucking dumb are you? Didn't you see the post by TornadoNHS? He said that Shaun said during a concert that this song is about his mother! IF you think about it in that light it actually makes perfect sense! You always hear stories about these women who go balistics and crazy and end up brutally mudering their cheating/abusing/whatever husbands. If you think about the song in that light everything falls into place. You know not every rock song in the world is about some guy and girl who are dating, there are some songs that are more than that, like this one. And when a band can pump out a song that's more than that, it makes it a much greater song and in turn makes the band much much greater. Rock on Seether!!! | |
| The Offspring – Can't Repeat Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Does no one understand the true meaning of this song? Sure it draws back to old times in your life that are long gone and all, but this song is actually about the Offspring themselves. They can't repeat their old times, their big hits like Smash, and Americana in the 90's those times are long gone for them now. They're singing about their past, how it's behind them but how they're going on and making the best of it anyways, and let me tell you they sure did make the best of it 'cause this is one rocking good song! Rock on Offspring! | |
| Hurt – Rapture Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is definitely one of THE best rock and roll songs I've ever heard. Sure it has the typical theme to most rock songs, bad break up between me and my girl, she doesn't get me, I don't get her, yadayadayada, whatever! But this song is more than that because it's about her being a zealously religious freak murdering their child! That's fucked up! But it's so cool to hear a story about these weird life experiences and how her rardical religious ideals keep them apart, not like most songs where it's about social cliques that keep them apart, how freaking cliche. This song rocks all those other petty break up songs to shame. Rock on Hurt!!! | |
| Another Animal – Broken Again Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| When I first heard this song it made me think of "Alice in Chains" there's a strong grunge sound to it very reminiscent of AIC, even the singing is similar, though this singer is easier to understand than AIC. It's a good song, not a great song, but good. The only thing that keeps this from being a great song is its lack of originality, all this has been done before, some girl doesn't like you for who you are, you have to fake it all and pretend all the time. I think after hearing renditions of this kind of song 2,000 times over we get the idea, although Another Animal still did a nice job on it, it's a fun sing along, mellow, slow, grungey kinda depressing song, but I love it. | |
| Shinedown – What a Shame Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Great great great song, so is the album by the way. This is probably my favorite song on the album, even my father, who harsley judges modern rock liked it, what a surprise! But this song truly brings out the best qualities in Brent Smith's singing abilities, and the lyrics are also very touching. Only a few songs in history have ever made me teary eyed, and right now the only ones I can think of are "Rapture" by Hurt, and this one. Oh, and what's that thing about bonus tracks?? I want bonus tracks! | |
| Seether – Pig Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Honestly, Seether has got to be my favorite band for the time being. I love the lyrics, the hard guitar rifts, the sound and blend of it all...but doesn't anyone ever get tired of "poor me and my ex girlfriend didn't work out" it seems like almost all rock songs are about being excluded from society or some group or about some bad break up between you and your mate. Sure it's bad, and some songs are worth writing over a bad break up, but when so many songs by one band are over the very same thing it gets to be a bit repititive. I think we, and our music too, needs to move beyond this "post-grunge" barrier, find a new genre to create, inspire something new and creative, Seether has the capacity, I know it. Shinedown has already taken the first steps, their newest album "Sound of Madness" displays their ability to invent new music writing styles very well, they have songs that are politically based, socially based, death, hard living, , and good times long gone. Those descriptions relate to the songs "Devour" "Sound of Madness" "What a Shame" "(forget the name...)" and "The Crow and the Butterfly" respectively. So let's hear it for new music!!! | |
| Seether – Because Of Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is awesome, besides the lyrics of the song which are great, take a listen to the wild and radical guitar playing, have you ever heard anything like it? So wild, so out there, so experimental in it, just crazy chords they're ripping again and again and it's so hard and heavy to top it off. This song rocks my pants off! 2 thumbs up! | |
| Seether – Empty Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song seems to draw some lineage back to Nirvana with the whole "Rape Me" line, and Morgan has cited Nirvana as the reason he picked up a guitar at all. Obviously he wants someone, a girl, but there's something wrong, he's corrupted maybe and that's why she's denying him and that's why he's angry. Maybe he isn't "good" enough for this person and that's why they're denying him, hence the "I can't be what you want." and "'Cause I don't think you want to know me now." But great song, I never knew it existed, and I've been in love with Seether for about a year now. | |
| The Offspring – You're Gonna Go Far, Kid Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love this song though, definitely one of my favorites, right in the top 5 along with "The Kids Aren't Alright" "Can't Repeat" "Bad Habit" and "All I want". However, I just don't thinks this song has the poppy appeal to it that's going to make it a huge hit like The Offspring really need to make a rebound again, this album will probably only do as well as Splinter did, maybe not even that well. But wow, this song is fast paced and full of energy. "Show me how to lie, you're getting better all the time" means show me how you manipulate the way you do, you're always getting better at lying because it's always working on us. "And turning all against the one. Is an art that's hard to teach" means rebelling against this person, or entity, or government or whoever they are is difficult, it's an art, it's not easy to learn or to do. "Another clever word, sets off an unsuspecting herd. And as you step back into line a mob jumps to their feet" means Another lie has passed, and all the people fell to it, the herd meaning all the people, and stepping back in line with a mob jumping to their feet, well I'm not sure what to make of that part. "Now dance fucker dance, man he never had a chance" means this person or entity in power is manipulating or playing someone again, making them do their bidding, or some lowly task, and obviously this guy who's having this crap done to him never had a chance which is way he's being played. "And no one even knew, it was really only you" means all the people are fooled, they fell prey to the lies of this guy, or entity. "and now you steal away, take him out today. Nice work you did, you're gonna go far, kid" means this evil guy is hiding away and making the poor joe look bad doing awful things to him, "taking him out" maybe even killing him. When Dexter sings, nice work you did, you're gonna go far kid, I get the idea that he's talking about some bully, and bullies go no where in life if that's all they ever are. "With a thousand lies, and a good disguise hit 'em right between the eyes" means this evil guy lies and cheats and hides to get where he is and do what he does, and Dexter's singing to the guy that all this crap is happening to, telling him to hit 'em right between the eyes, go for the soft spot, the area where he's vulnerable, wherever that is. "See the lightning in your eyes, see 'em running for their lives" this line is either again talking about the evil guy and how sadistic he is, or the guy who was getting beat up, now that he's risen up and taken over he's become the new evil head hauncho, or whatever. And the rest of the song I haven't finished deciphering yet. But this is just my take on the first half, kick ass song by the way, gotta love it! | |
| The Offspring – You're Gonna Go Far, Kid Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song seems to me to be about someone in power, and that someone is abusing their power. Almost like a bully, "Take him out today" and when Dexter goes on to say "Nice work you did, you're gonna go far kid" it draws back to someone bullying another, because you'll go nowhere being a bully your whole life. But whoever this someone is, they're probably sadistic, hence the line "See the lightning in your eyes, see 'em running for their lives" This someone who's sadistic and cruel is manipulating and framing another person, "with a thousand lies, and a good disguise." And the "Dance fucker dance" line I think it's just another line showing how this person in power is again abusing that power, manipulating someone else, making them do what they want. Anyways, that's my take on it. | |
