Fall Out Boy – What a Catch, Donnie Lyrics 17 years ago
Ill watch Donnie Darko, it sounds pretty cool.

It just occured to me today, that all of FoB's singles have been in this song. But the single "I Dont Care" wasnt included. I thought how it was weird how they didnt include this, even though its as popular as the other songs. Maybe they left it out on purpose, saying they really do care?

My brother who i was talking with at the time said maybe they didnt want to reference a song within the same album, but they already mentioned Headfirst Slide. Maybe they didnt want to mention two songs from the same album? Or maybe it was on purpose.

Iluvzmekitty, your intrepretation is spot on, except for one part of Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet:

I will never end up like him.
Behind my back, I already am.
Keep a calendar, this way you will always know.

It seems like he is telling himself that he will never end up like Donnie and be cheated on, though he knows that he already is being cheated on. The Calendar bit is as saying "Remember this as the day that you threw away the best thing that would ever happen to you."

Its extremely weird how all those songs seem to fit into this one, its like the final puzzle piece. All of those songs were great by themselves, but now they all are unified into one context. Thats amazing!

Taken from Wikipedia. I did try and cite it, but it removed it thinking it was HTML? Oh well, enjoy!

Fall Out Boy – ALPHAdog and OMEGAlomaniac (Demo) Lyrics 17 years ago
To understand this song you have to think about the context which the album was released, which was around the time that the US election was heating up. Folie A Deux was even scheduled for November 4th, election day. The Hush Sound did a song on the album called "We Believe In (Barack Obama)." It could be said than, that the entire album was talking about the New Administration of the US, AKA Barack being elected.

"welcome to the new administration
you can almost see the wizard through the curtains"

Yes, it is a reference to the Wizard of Oz. When Dorothy finally finds the Great Wizard of Oz, who is the master of the land, she finds that it is just a figurehead controlled by a smaller, much more timid person.

Knowing that, the above quote stands for how when the New Administration (of the US) is put in place, that the citizens of the USA will finally be able to "almost see the wizard behind the curtain," as in: we will be in a less corrupt, more visible, government under Barack; as compared to the Old Administration, G. Bush Jr., which was nothing but a giant head controlled by unseen, uncontrollable forces. They say that you can "almost see the wizard" because this is just the first step to repairing the US to its former glory.

That was my favorite quote the entire album. It always gave me goosebumps for some reason. The rest of the song will be short.

This part is taken from Barack's point of view:

tell rock'n'roll i'm alone again
(Congress is a group of people, a band, and now he is alone campaigning for the US presidency.
i wanna call the midwest home again
(He's a senator from Illinois. Illinois is in the midwest, generally middle class. He wants to made the middle class citizens better off.)
your time is passing
(Directly speaking to G. Bush.)
she never means never
(Directly speaking about H. Clinton and how she lied during the campaign.)
some of these years dont last forever
(G. Bush is running out of time.)

"ALPHAdog and OMEGAlomaniac"

This is a comparison between B. Obama and H. Clinton. Obama is the Alphadog, and Hillary is the megalomaniac. Also, the Greek reference to Alpha and Omega, stating that Obama is the first, and Hillary is second.

Phew! Great! That wraps it up. This is the only song i really enjoyed from the ChildrenFOB Mixtape i actually enjoyed.
