| This song speaks volumes about relationships. Im sick of hearing about how this song has to do with christianity and that society is to blame for the divorce rate blah blah Enough of the christian rant its annoying. This song brings love back to reality , though we might be in love with someone for awhile we inevitably fall out of love and who is to say we can't leave something that makes us unhappy its human nature it has nothing to with divine intervention. | |

| This song is about growing up suddenly looking at the world through the eyes of an adult. Dare I say losing ones virginity and looking at the world through different eyes. The idea of using tin cans and string represents childhood and the innocence one has as a child and how the child like innocence is all he's known and to stare into the eyes of the person he's with is like unbelievable to him thats he's gotten to this point in his life the end of innocence the start of adulthood. The use of the bells reminds me of children as well i don't know if it was intentional but it would make sense. Maybe the idea of being so far from home could represent being in college or maybe the notion that one has left there comfort zone and now must face reality but is captivated by the world and since his eyes are open things seem to be seen differently through new eyes. The cause for celebration yet fearing the unknown | |

i personally think this song is about denouncing the idea of religion and how humankind isn't ready for something like it, "the damage revealed the cost And it wasn’t worth it, but they’ll never know" showing how religions tend to ignore the fact they they do more harm then good with wars etc in the name of certain gods and prophets. I also think he gets into how crazy religious fanatics are always breathing down are necks about how we are all going to hell if we don't believe in there god claiming that there religions is superior to others etc. Also he gets into homosexuality and how gays and lesbians are slaves to love rather that what certain religions namely abrahamic religions aka christianity islam and judaism feel is right thus they take there love over what those religions blatantly saying is wrong " But we wont be saved we’ll live as slaves to love, What god takes away, let’s refill all your holes with mud" the mud and the holes he refering to are the void some gays and lesbians feel because they want to believe in something but this idea of what god says takes it away thus they must fill it with something else, from my experience and observation most gays are bitter and angry towards religions thus filling the holes with mud and dirt in a figurative sense ( Me being gay i can a test this observation) . This song is about a revolution to denounce religion , for its doing more harm than good . Yet towards the end of the song he realizes that he's alone in this fight because religion has become so embedded in peoples minds and tradition that to take something so personal away from them will cause anger and chaos. People who feel the same way no better than to start such a revolution . so he is trapped so he will never know the outcome of this revolution yet he'll wait hoping that something will change. |
