First verse is my favorite. And it is from Cuba, the Rio Grande is like a couple feet thick. Also, there's no shore, its a river. Shore meaning ocean/sea, meaning Florida I presume. But he's not talking about 'Cuba' per se, he just put that as the location. He's talking about all immigrants who come to America, and their primary reasons for a better life for their children, putting their children before them. The diagnosed problems he listed aren't just of Cuba, they are of a bunch of foreign third world countries, he just picked 'Cuba' in terms of the last part, but the first part is just immigration in general. |

I cropped out that one part in the accapella. Its Money guys.. this happens a lot in music where 1 set of people hear one thing and the other people hear a different thing and both are REALLY different. But "my lie" I do not hear that either, and also, it makes not one bit of sense. (I read the comments above) My lie doesn't make sense, and its too far fetched in the concept that you're claiming. - No I'm not underestimating lu, I just think Money first better with Cars, and girls, the traditional topic of rap verses in the new millenia. |

-Agree Fully With HotChocolat, and I was getting irritated at the people calling him 'vain' while I was scrolling down-
He's listing in the chorus he talks about 2 thing - Items (Money), and girls. which is what a lot of rappers in the industry do, but within the verses he breaks it down to what 'he thinks is cool' but more so just what he likes. He's giving you a taste of the real person, because to be quite frank, It would bother to me listening to a person so deep and intricate as Lupe, but not know anything about the person behind the rhetorical devices. Opens up the listener to his world and gives them a bit of education at the end ;) |

Suarrez, you're an idiot concerning the last part. Yes, the Sphinx is a repeating statue in Egypt, but Egyptians don't just put random ass crap in large stone statues which take years to build. The story behind the sphinx is that in appeared in dreams and served as a riddler/protecter/guardian. (something to that effect) *Knowledge is your friend Suarrez. |
