| Red House Painters – Katy Song Lyrics

This is simply one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It describes the feeling of loving someone you can't have in a way words alone can't. The haunted lyrics surrounded by the fluttery guitar melodies make this song unforgettable to me. Most of all, I perfectly relate to it. |

| R.E.M. – Try Not To Breathe Lyrics
|
|
To me it's about suicide (as it is with most people). The narrator talks of trying not to breathe, but also he is afraid of actually going through the act itself. He feels he will be leaving people behind through suicide. He only wants to be happy but feels the only way to stop his restless mind and body (shivers) is through permanent sleep. He just wants something to make him back out of the decision, but nothing ever comes (fly over my grave again) and he's at a loss of whether or not he should go through with it once and for all. He wants people to remember and love him, to look into his eyes and not want him to go, but he feels it's the only way to put his mind at ease. I love this song so much. |

| Blind Melon – Drive Lyrics

Drug parts aside, this song speaks to me in means of a general depression. The kind that you can't shake no matter what you fucking do. The character rolls his own smokes, hides his face behind his hair, and holds in the pain, of course, until he hears that Lennon song. He escapes with an addiction of some sort, heroin, or some other drug, but as he nods off into a dream his friend never knows if it's gonna be the one that finally kills him. I always listen to this song when I'm in a deep depression. Thoughts? |

| Hum – Diffuse Lyrics

This song reminds me of a lost love or a love that the narrator felt that just never was. It's emotionally very heavy, almost smothering to me. Beautiful. The "I'll wait" repeated part reminds me of the emotional trauma that bred the "I miss you" repeat at the end of Slint's "Good Morning, Captain." |

| Slint – Don, Aman Lyrics

I relate to Don on many levels in this song, and it really speaks to me. Social anxiety, feeling alone and creepy around couples "romancing" while you're just there.....peoples' stares begin to take a toll on the psyche....feeling smothered and trapped like you need to leave right away and take comfort in your own solitude....talking to yourself under your breath and laughing lightly along the way.....all to an imaginary audience. Slint is such a great band. They truly know (knew) how to capture true, honest, and RAW emotion, while still keeping you at the edge of your seat. |

| Tom Waits – Anywhere I Lay My Head Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
|
It seems to be about extreme loneliness which lead to depression. The narrator of the story, or Tom, seems to be at the very end of his rope, and just wants to be wherever he can "lay his head." It's a beautiful song in my opinion, one of the best on the album. |

| Soundgarden – Boot Camp Lyrics

|
It's probably about living life in a way that you feel constantly depressed and trapped - like there's no way out. It's about longing for a change that you can't seem to grasp. It's such a beautiful song, and it's a great last song on the perfect last album of a the great Soundgarden. This band was too incredible for words. |

"I want to taste dirty, stinging pistol
In my mouth, on my tongue
I want you to scrape me from the walls
And go crazy like you've made me"
This is my favorite verse of the song. It portrays just how horrific Layne felt.......and the line "I want you to scrape me from the walls" readily brings up images of Layne wanting to shoot himself in the head, and having this person or thing that he has such anger toward clean up the remnants. Such a powerful song. Conjures intense emotions with every listen.

Great, beautiful song. Temple Of The Dog are incredible. Too bad only us real Pearl Jam and Soundgarden fans know who they are. Anyway this song sounds like a a kind of unrequited love, hence the title. I relate so much to this song it's amazing, as do so many others. Great song, reunite TOTD, for all of the fans. |

Beautiful song, incredible soothing drone metal. It's about how no matter where we go and the decisions we make in life, who we are and everything will still always be with and a part of us. |

True, he was indeed listening to this album, and what a fucking album. He should have listened to "Everybody Hurts" and maybe "Find The River." |

| Neil Young – The Losing End (When You're On) Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
|
I think it's about the literally "losing end" of a love relationship. He (Neil) loves another woman who just doesn't love him back. At least she doesn't put any effort into the relationship. This causes him to become extremely depressed and the lyrics really speak for themselves. Very heartfelt dong. Love it. |

| Pearl Jam – Off He Goes Lyrics

This song just imposes the thought in me of an old, dear friend who you need in your darkest time of life, and he/she just isn't there for you, for whatever reason, or a long, sad goodbye to a loved one who you know you may never meet again. It's a beautiful song. |

| The Beatles – Across the Universe Lyrics

|
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I think it is about John Lennon's dream of Peace and Love throughout, well, the universe. The "nothing's gonna change my world" line is saying no matter what the world says about this, it's his dream and it cannot be changed by anyone else but him. It's an incredible song. |

This is a song well described in the title, just simply being let down one too many times until it finally gets to the core of the person. It's just about the feeling of alienation and being upheld by all of life's disappointments. |

| Radiohead – No Surprises Lyrics

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Period. The oceanic thought of suicide, finally ending it, the never ending torment and finally just pleading for nothing else bad happens before the end. Simply the most beautiful cry for help ever released on record, in my opinion. |

| John Lennon – Look At Me Lyrics

The song seems incredibly obsessive, as if John is confused about his role in the world, and all he can do is ask himself, never knowing. It's a song about personality crisis, and the needing to be loved. Beautifully tragic song. |
