People, this song has absolutely NOTHING to do with his father. Just because he said "I was young, but I wasn't naive I watched helpless as you turned around to leave And still I have the pain I have to carry A past so deep that even you could not bury if you tried" Doesn't mean that he was some little boy who watched his father walk out, personally i don't even see how that has anything to do with his dad. He was young, loved a girl, but wasn't naive...basically saying "Just because i was young, didn't make me dumb or incapable" "I love you more than you'll ever know" "When part of me died when i let you go" ....that's NOT about a dad people c'mon. This is not the type of song lyrical, or rhythm to be discussing your father. He loves a girl. Let her go through past issues and other stuff and part of him feels dead. He's miserable without her. BTW, in the beginning when he speaks of being young, he's talking about when they broke up. It probably happened a few years ago and he's singing about it now..because RIGHT after that entire verse he says "After all this time" Not a single lyric in this song strikes me for being something in or around a parental figure. |

boartsm , you dumb hick, it's not about the 80's, or anything else. I'm glad a hard working singer who's now a millionaire bothers you. It's about how JACKED up the world is now. How he remembers times being somewhat respectful. I was raised in the 90's and remember times being different. It was a different life when we were boys and girls...meaning everything seemed so different and innocent. People weren't as crazy as they are today, and you didn't have these "Oh you hit your kid, time to go to jail" And you will see even 10 years ago, children had friends, and not Myspace and video games. "A different world" Go hide under your rock now. |
