| Maritime – The Window Is the Door Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The repeated lines, "I'm not your way out" suggest the speaker is advising someone close to him that he can't make everything in her life better. She wants, "the phone to ring/The dogs to bark and the wind to sing". I think it means that in the song, the speaker iscusses what would happen if everyone could just escape from all their problems: "It gets so easy to leave that work and aeroplanes we see as just exits from now". If everyone leaves, "Worlds collide and we depart". So now the cities are empty and devoid of people, "All the cities left undone and bricks in time turn back to mud/The weekend plans are gone/There’s no one coming down the hall". So he's saying we all have to stick with our lives even when times are tough, you can't just run away. |

| Maritime – Don’t Say You Don’t Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Basically it's being so infatuated with someone that if they said they didn't need you are love you, you'd be devastated, "My ...beating heart could stop". |

I think this song is simply about a guy who was lonely, "I always thought it would be nice if I didn't come back alone". Then he found someone he loves, "There is one place that I would long to be, It's in your arms." No it seems that they are separated for whatever reason, "It's watching you, watching over me." Although they could still be together, it's sort of ambiguous. Fantastic song though. |

| Spoon – The Book I Write Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think the lyrics are: One, two I wanna open this heart, Iwant so much to be craved, But both of us, stay on our guard in the same way. And I know this is the book that I write. All that we knew, just a clue All that we was, Just because, I never knew. I wanna trigger your heart, Haha There's something else besides the silver we bought. Hey hey And it's the book I write. I let it go so long, another book I write oh, oh. All that we are, all we do All that we are, all we do Is live forever. All that we was, just because All that we knew, just a clue, I never knew This is the book I write Oh and I let it go on so long long long... At least these are the lyrics that most sites agree upon. |

| "Leave the ring on the rails, for the wheels to nullify" I always think this line is fantastic. | |
| Spoon – Vittorio E. Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think this song is about how in life we're always moving forwards whether we want to or not. In this the speaker is talking about a girl who for one reason or another has to leave him. "I want you to stay, and I want you to go" He needs her but supports her doing whatever it is which is causing her to leave. After she's gone he wants to be with her. "I want to be there tonight I want to get there but it’s just out of sight" And generally life just keeps flowing, so you need to go along with it. "So hold on and hold on, it goes on" Really love this song. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Transatlanticism Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I can sympatishise with this song having spent a year in the US and had to return to England. I think the line, "I thought it less like a lake and more like a moat". Reflects how instead of a recreational body of water, it is instead a barrier. After all people row across lakes but use moats to keep people at bay. | |
