From the compact, layered guitars, to the singer's perfect overbite [á la Anita O'Day], to the exact drumming, this is a great song; it's one of the year's best songs, in fact. |

The song references the chorus of a 1971 John Prine song, "Spanish Pipedream":
Blow up your T.V. throw away your paper.
Go to the country, build you a home.
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches.
Try and find Jesus on your own.
Of course, the song obviously turns "eating peaches" into an obvious euphemism.

It seems to be about a man throwing fatalism to the wind and trying to be with someone no matter what, because "There is no place I'd rather be."
Excellent drumming/guitar, and it really takes off around the 2:40 mark--it's one of those songs that'll make you press down on the gas pedal harder without meaning to do so. It's a great song, and I think it could have easily replaced some of the other songs released on Zeitgeist, rather than being a b-side. |

Woo, first comment on a great song!
I don't want to comment on the meaning of the entire song. However, one line strikes me as particularly beautiful:
"i know i did the wrong mistake again."
Given the choice of two mistakes, you chose the one that you thought would be worth making, only to find out you've suffered and sighed for nothing. I just think that's a very beautiful way of saying it. |
