i love the Butterfly album because it has many good songs in it, but this song really got to me. when i was feeling depressed a while ago, i even cried listening to this song. i know for mariah, the song is actually about being biracial. but for me it's also applicable to sexuality. a while ago i really couldnt accept the fact that i'm gay and i hated myself. only recently i've embraced it and is just living with the fact that i wont change. everything she sang there is really the things i felt. like "standing on my own", "in a world divided", "tried to tell myself that i was quite the same", "in my heart uncertainty forever lies", "always felt i was outside"......so sad to think about it. |
