Voltaire – The Man Upstairs Lyrics 17 years ago
You guys are as bad as Moby Dick scholars, thinking everything is an allegory, especially often to God and Satan. I honestly think that in the end, this song is about having crazy neighbors.

And, if God were upstairs, and Satan were downstairs, Who is Machu Pichu? He also appears to live downstairs, so what is he in that allegory?

Voltaire – Goodnight Demonslayer Lyrics 17 years ago
When I have a child, I will sing this to them every night, and hopefully, they will grow up able to take on those real world monsters, and they wont have to learn it on the fly.

Voltaire – Almost Human Lyrics 17 years ago
Besides the obvious "Paradise Lost" concept, in which the Archangel Sammeal falls from the grace of god, and loses his name, gaining the name Lucifer, there is also the thought that this is a song about a lost love as opposed to status with god.

This song certainly sounds like something an Ex-boyfriend who had been dumped would say. I know that this song really related to me when I was going through such an issue. The key to really sealing this as a song about lost love are these lines:
"don't touch me
oh i couldn't bear the thought of it now
don't touch me
oh i couldn't bear the strain"
This isn't hard to see as something the broken hearted, ex-boyfriend would say. I know that if the girl who broke my heart were to hug me, or even just touch me, I would push her away because of how painful it would be to me.
