I think its about addiction there are very clear verses referring to drugs as a main addiction but I think the song can also be related to any other addiction/control a matter(drugs,liquor,cigs,,,) or person(gover, authority,boss,) has on people.... |

haha it's funny how this song can interpreted as:-
1- a really shallow song "let's do it"
2- the true deep meaning of being in love

Its True this song is really all about Elvis, but the fella who mentioned Kurt Cobain had a good point, and when I first heard it Princess Diana just popped into my head, and that's just what makes a great song, even if you dont interpret it the the way the artist did it would still make sense and you can relate/connect to it :) cheers and R.I.P to all the mentioned above... |

well honestly when this song came out i was only a couple years old, but when i first heard it i was a senior and it really caught me, coz u knw i was graduating and lots of changes were about to happen in my life, " did you ever think that we wud be so close like brothers..." always thot of it as my relationship with my classmates, and " an august summer night " every summer we'd hang around and the chorus is just special always felt like it meant the moment where we're all grown up having a BBQ at some friends house, with our children playing having fun as well, i know this has NOTHING at all to do with the song but that's the beauty of music any1 can relate to it or can be touched by it in any way :) |

well since its off a movie soundtrack so i guess i have to agree with a lot of the guys who saw how it was completely related to Lestat and his fellow vampires should always be hiding and if you saw " Interview with a vampire " you'll understand more of Lestat's character, " we walk amongst you feeding/raping " obviously that's what vampires do |
