I think this song is about two young men who are in love...yet suffer from prejudice from their friends and family. Or maybe they haven't even told anyone, yet know if they did they would be cruely treated. So they decide to run away together. I think they maybe have no where really to go, so they stay on the streets. I think that they are in a neighbourhood that is VERY against gays, but they don't care too much because they love one another so much. This can explain the lines: It's dark there's no need for light When the fire in his eyes is so bright. So I think that they either run away, or I agree with the suicide pact, they are in love but want to escape their hate-filled world. |

I can not believe no one has said this yet! The line: "Where women glow..." immediately says so me that the women either glow with beauty or because they are golden with the sun tanning their skin. That was my very first thought when I read it, I thought it was obvious! Anyway, enough of that rant. I love this song, it has a great element of the Aussie spirit in it, and I'm glad most probably someone from every country has heard it. I love the video clip that goes with it. |
