Mischief Brew – Boycott Me! Lyrics 17 years ago
Great song. It is about the F.O.P. or Fraternal Order of Police, in Philidelphia, standing on the pulpit of moral superiority and organizing boycotts of certain media due to controversial content. The song, however, has a much deeper underpinning of ideas which paint modern-day events with a Revolutionary-era idealism, and bring to question the very society today which supports the abdication of our fundamental rights.

The song hints strongly at the fact that for many whom count themselves part of todays society in the U.S., it has reached a point where the ideals our forefathers fought for during the American Revolution hold very little meaning when confronted with an oppressive and frankly run-amok government. For many, our Freedom of Speech holds very little value, and is taken for granted, as long as it's not their speech being censored.

Oh, and a couple lyrics are wrong... In the first verse, it's "Listen to the Fife and Snare, marching through the square." In the chorus the "FOB" should be "FOP" and it's not "I'd rather taste a rebel's lure." it's "I'd rather taste a rebel's glory." Finally, it's not "Boycott 'em." in the last verse, it's a word which Erik took some artistic license in using (as it's not a "real" word, but works just fine), "Boycotten." which would be defined as the state of being boycotted.
