I don't think it's about death at all. It's about falling in love while you're young, before life happens and you don't have the time anymore. Like this one song I read from a comic book (Fushigi Yugi:Genbu Kaiden) and it said: "Life is brief maiden, fall in love before the crimson bloom fades from your lips" Same concept. Kiss, while your lips are still red. While you're still young. "Rest while bosom is still untouched, unveiled" Still innocent, virginal. Unveiled or unclothed. "Hold another hand while the hand`s still without a tool" Tool being a metaphor for a job or instrament for a job. Like a briefcase even. So hold hands while you're still kids and have the time to. "Drown into eyes while they`re still blind" Look into each other eyes while you still only have sights for each other. Blind-Innocent. Not yet seeing the world. "Love while the night still hides the withering dawn" Night time is party time, in the day you have to get up for work. |

I love this song first off. So this is my analysis of it: I do not think Kerli is speaking fondly of her homeland. For one the song is called "Creepshow." That is pretty self-explainitory. "Ice cream mountains and Chocolate skies." Ice cream is cold, freezing even- freezing mountains. Frigid. Unpleasent. Chocolate is brown, brown dirty skies. "Cinnamon houses and licorice flies." Cinnamon is a flavoring and it has a dusty feel to it. Houses made from it wouldn;t be very stable. And the licorice flies. Even if the other imagery was speaking fondly by comparing her homeland to candy, this line changes it all. Why mention flies? Flies aren't pleasent, and they are generally only present around filth. Licorice is black, so black flies. She uses clever words and marvelous imagery. It's almost sarcastic and sort of reminds me of Hansel and Gretal. The witch's house was made from candy and looked pleasent, but it really was a horrid place and almost led to their death. In Estonia, she hints at in her music, she couldn't reach her full potential. |

I think it's about Kyo himself and how people you know..want him. Kyo views himself as a bad person, he even calls himself "Warumono" which means "bad man". And in the song the word "sadistic" is repeatedly used. The line "The sallowed, greedy insects Are my frustrated sympathisers" plus the music video, which shows Dir en grey on stage and a crowd with bags on their faces going crazy for them, to me says this song is about fans and Kyo himself. But who knows. Kyo even said he makes his lyrics difficult to interpret for a reason. |
