| Metallica – All Nightmare Long Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I definitely think this is about the bus crash that killed Cliff, but it's Jame's nightmare. He may not have one every night, but eventually he will. It's like Russian Roulette, his luck runs out. He's crawling from the wreckage of the bus again and again, trying to run and get away from the nightmare. "Still life... Incarnation" Incarnation means a human being. Still life (not the paintings) means his life is gone and now he is still. "Still life... Infamy" Everyone who listens to Metallica knows the story of how Cliff died. It's famous. "Hallucination" James never believed the story that the bus hit a patch of black ice, and he thinks that everyone was lying to him, trying to get him to believe something that wasn't there, a hallucination. "Heresy" I can't figure this part out. This is the one part in the song that makes me feel like it's about something else. The only thing I can come up with is the fact that ever since his parents died, James has never been very close to God, and he might place part of the blame on him somehow. "The light that is not light is here" Everyone knows the saying "The light at the end of the tunnel" or, "Go towards the light." He's saying that the end of the tunnel isn't really light, it's just death. "You crawl back in but your luck runs out" He wakes up out of his dream, and he is now back in his own body. Eventually though, he will have another one of those nightmares. |

Definitely an underrated gem, my third favorite by them. "I swear I didn't know that '45 was loaded In fact my memory ain't too clear That's not to say she didn't get what she deserved Least that's the way it looked from here" That's just hilarious. Makes me laugh every time I hear it. |

by bWa on 06-17-2008 @ 06:19:29 AM Don't you feel irony in the part: "I know the pieces fit 'cause I watched them fall away"? That's kinda funny, cuz they can't fit if they fall away. Anyway rest of song is clear enough. ----- In a sense that doesn't make sense, but I see how it can. Have you ever had somebody close to you die? You don't really realize how much you loved them until they're gone. Then you start looking back at things and saw how well they all fit together. That also fits the rest of the song, as it seems like a relationship problem, but it can also be interpreted as breaking away from the Church. |

| Pink Floyd – Welcome to the Machine Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This is probably one of the most depressing songs I've ever heard. I know it can be used to signify the musician's dreams that were crushed, but I take it as referring to everyone. I think of them talking to people just graduating form High School or College, and telling them "Welcome to the Machine," like they're just another unknown face in an unknown office building. Their dreams of being whatever they wanted were crushed. |

| Megadeth – Addicted to Chaos Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Up until last night, I always looked at this as just an average Megadeth song. Now though, I see it's more than that. "Only yesterday they told me you were gone All these normal people will I find another one? Monkey on my back, aching in my bones I forgot you said "One day you'll walk alone" I said I need you, does that make me wrong? Am I a weak man, are you feeling strong? My heart was blackened, it's bloody red A hole in my heart, a hole in my head?" -------- That's talking about an addict who had a friend that was helping him through it, and starting to turn him around. Suddenly, his friend died, and now he doesn't know what to do. "In a dream I connot see Tangled abstract fallacy Random turmoil builds in me I'm addicted to chaos" -------- This shows that he's struggling after his friend's death, and starting to revert to his old addiction. The last verse shows that he knows it's going to be a hard road ahead of him (My brain was labored, my head would spin, Don't let me down, don't give up, don't give in), but he knows that he can do it now. |

I do agree with the person who said it's about the wrongness of using religion for war. This is one of those "elite" songs that if you can't get any kind of a message out of it at all, you must either be quite the idiot, or in a comatose state. And man, is this a creepy song, especially the intro. I feel like as soon as I go to bed this song is going to eat me alive. |

| Megadeth – A Tout le Monde (Set Me Free) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

It's not about suicide as all, but many people think it is so this song get's somewhat of a bad rap. Personally, I love it. It's my 2nd favorite song of all time, and I want it played at my funeral. Not that I plan to die anytime soon or anything. |

| Kamelot – Up Through the Ashes Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think it switches back and forth between Pontius Pilate's and the crowd's perspectives. leucis is right, Pontius was the only person with authority to decide whether to release Jesus or Barabbas, and the part where it says "before I let you die, you must forgive me" reminds me of how Pilate washed his hands, trying to wash away the guilt of turning over Jesus. However, Pilate didn't mock Jesus, the crowd did. "You want to die Create some sensation Be making the news An eye for an eye My king of creation King of the Jews" He was given the thorn crown, and a sign placed above his head saying "King of the Jews." He was told that if he really was the son of God, he should jump down and save himself to prove it. Either way, a majorly kickass song, my favorite by Kamelot. |
