| Our Lady Peace – 4 A.M. Lyrics | 17 years ago |

So everytime i hear this song i tear up its beautiful and created by the heart, almost like a late confession. When people try to say well its for these reasons 1. it was written for his father or brother "Adam Madia" or 2. it was written at 4am in the morning... It angers me because even though those reasons may be right or not i think that something like that is personal and Raine may have only wnated his father to know that. overall i think that the song speaks about forgiveness though. The only regret a person may have in their life is having regrets, make sure you make every second count. "this is your life passing by minute after minute, are you happy with your life" (Edward Norton as Tyler Durdan in Fight Club). Just remember keep loved ones close and never run to far, always stay close enough to hear someone's voice, nomatter what you do your family is always your family, unless you change the meaning of the word. |

A friend of mine introduced to me this song. I am not a big listener of rap, but this song means alot to me and speaks loudly against the jumping of conclusions to an artists words. It happened first with Dee Snider and the song "Under the Blade" when he had to appear before Senator Al Gore and make him look like a monkey. Definately a good song about the freedom of speech and meaning... -Carm, and the Uncontented |

| System of a Down – Ego Brain Lyrics | 17 years ago |

when i read the title i think of a brain or conscience that has no feelings about anything but itself. Ego, is greek for "I" and the brain controls our conscience and body (actions and feelings) the song seems hard to understand, but because of all the references to the "My", "Me" and "I" then how they saw "you took me by the hand and declared that love previals over all" it seems as though someone forcefully grabbed this person and should them or had done something that open their eyes made them realize that there is more to life then just them selves but it took something painful to show them that. Maybe something as painful as their world dissolving right before their eyes. then after someone can "watch my world dissolve" they they no that "my pain is real" "fighting another man for land for land", well obviously this man is being greedy and when being greedy your only thinking of oneself.... but given system's reputation for writing political songs and songs about the world i think that it is safe to say that they are singing about war, or maybe just greed of the world/soul. if the song is about war it sounds that the government only thinks of themselves and it is the people who speak up, protest and riot, that forcefully make the government realize that they should be worried about the love of the nations people more then personal finance. if the song is speaking about greed of the world and the soul we should see that it basically says sometimes in order to see what really matters to us, or the the things that should really be important to us are not easily spotted, but we must suffer a great fall in order to see what we really have.... -Carm, and the Uncontented |
