The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about having a religious experience(s) on a psychedelic drug. You see all of the ancient religions that people worship today were originally based upon Shamanism, what the church has demonized as "witch doctorin." Jack is an enlightened dude.....

everyone knows about it
from the queen of england to the hounds of hell
and if i catch you comin' back my way
i'm gonna sell it to you
and that ain't what you want to hear
but that's what i'll do

Black Sabbath – Who Are You? Lyrics 17 years ago
Ok, this is my take on this great old song, bear with me. It takes a bit of understanding of religion to understand the song. The God guy of the Old Testament in the bible is what the Gnostics called the Demiurge, the evil imperfect creator god that keeps mankind living in a material world of illusions, wants to keep people ignorant, and basically loathes mankind. He merely represents Authority and Institutions... Which is where the line "You're Just Like Big Brother" fits in... God/Government, they're both false authorities. Same thing...

The song seems to be not only questioning who he is, and hinting that he knows this important knowledge and has figured out the fallacy, but also "In the name of hell, Who are you?" To claim to have authority over me, I'm my own authority/God.

The bible is totally based upon ancient gnostic beliefs, and is nothing at all like what the Church teaches which has people worshipping the evil Demiurge/Yaweh. These gnostic type beliefs are the inspiration for a huge percentage of our most popular art, movies, music, you name it, for as long as they have existed. Gnosticism is the true belief system, we're all our own Gods/authorities, not slaves to an imaginary deity that doesn't exist.

The Police – Spirits In The Material World Lyrics 17 years ago
As drds63 says, it's a form of Gnosticism, which is basically the belief system I believe in. We're all spiritual/ethereal beings trapped in an imperfect material world, which in the bible is created by "God" Yaweh, who is the Demiurge. He merely represents authority and institutions, and created this imperfect world through Chaos. Yaweh has no authority in the spiritual realm though, which they attained by eating a "forbidden fruit" from the Tree Of Knowledge... the apples of apollo (the greek god of medicine) a magic mushroom, to attain gnosis/knowledge in the spiritual realm through direct experience and become their own Gods/Authorities.

Many of the best and greatest songs ever written are based upon gnostic beliefs, and I highly reccomend studying it a little. The bible is actually a gnostic type belief system that the Church has turned around backwards, created a big what amounts to a joke out of, and has people worshipping the evil Authority god whose shoes are filled in this world by governments and churches, authorities and institutions.

Ozzy Osbourne – Flying High Again Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is about psychedelic drugs, shrooms or lsd most likely... definitely something stronger than weed... on lsd or shrooms you can sometimes hear colors as he mentions in the song..

blah cookies, he doesn't care what you think...

Daddy thinks I'm lazy he don't understand
Never saw inside my head
People think I'm crazy but I'm in demand
Never heard a thing I said.

Black Sabbath – Walpurgis Lyrics 17 years ago
If you understand Christianity or more like Churchianity the way Ozzy does which is basically from a gnostic Christian point of view who were the original Christians, this is about the Church itself who are the fallacy, the lie, and killed off the gnostic sun worshipping magic mushroom eating pagans that wrote those ancient tales of astronomy, astrology, and shamanism in the bible.

To me it's about the church and how evil they really are beneath their illusion of goodness.

Astral projection is where the myths of Jesus ascending into heaven, and magic carpet rides and probably numerous other tales all originated. As LSA said above, it is a life changing experience.

To me this song is about astral projection/out of body experience which is achieved through psychedelic drugs... lsd, shrooms, DMT etc. Where you travel through the hole in the sky... I've achieved this near my peak before while tripping, but not trying to. It seems to be a pretty familiar theme in a lot of Sabbath and Ozzy songs. Check out "Over The Mountain" lyrics for another Ozzy song about Astral Projection.

Black Sabbath – Hole In The Sky Lyrics 17 years ago
the hole in the sky is astral projection/ascencion this is where the concept of wormholes and stargates come from. It's achieved through psychedelic drugs like Shrooms, LSD, etc. check out some Terrence McKenna if you want to know a little more about it. All religions were originally based upon using natural forms of these drugs like mushrooms including Christianity. Just like some of the Native American tribes still use peyote in their rituals. Religions evolved from Shamanism.

Hole in the sky
Gateway to heaven
Window in time
Through it I fly

Black Sabbath – Iron Man Lyrics 17 years ago
Whoever came up with the plot line whether it was Bill Ward, Ozzy, or taken from some movie highly based it on a gnostic type jesus belief.

The story of Jesus coming back to destroy the world, which is what he does if you read the bible. Many of Ozzy's lyrics seem to be based off of a gnostic Christian type belief system. The gnostics were the original xtian types who wrote those stories in the bible that descended from the ancient Egyptian and Greek mystery schools. Ozzy isn't as dumb as he looks hehe...

People can rag on him about doing drugs etc. when in fact if you really understand the bible you understand that it's mainly a book about drugs written by men on drugs, because god is a drug. :-)

As Ozzy says... in "Flying High Again."

People think I'm crazy, but I'm in demand
They never heard a word I said
