One of my favorite Avett Bros songs. It can relate to so many different things, but I think it's about a girl 'testing her wings' so to speak. She's fighting with the sky... She wants to be on her own and find out what's out there before she, well, dies. I think that the bridge is perhaps from the point of view of a guy she's leaving behind. "You can try to swim the sea" relating to she's looking for other 'fish in the sea' and other people. "But say goodbye to you and me." He won't be waiting for her when she gets back. |

Is she just daydreaming or is some problem nagging at her? I think she is perhaps haunted and preoccupied by some problem. Hence why she is 'fighting for her life' It's really getting to her... which is why the sun's been down for days... and nobody knows the mental torture she's fighting. |

I cannot hear this song without crying. My father took me to see Prince Caspian as an attempt to bond with his collegiate child and when I heard this song, I busted into tears. The poor guy didn't know what to do. I know a lot of the die hard Narnians think it's just about the movie, but I think there's more to it than that. I see the secret love aspect, but I think it's more of a love that just can't happen. I got back from France a few weeks ago with some friends. Including was my best male friend. I've been crazy about him for nearly two years, and he's always hinted about reciprocated feelings, but never acted on them. We go to colleges in different states, so we just sort of stayed friends. I'm seeing someone else now. But when we got to France, things changed and we crossed the friends line. Everything was great while we were there, but we had to face a lot of harsh realities when we got back. I'm still with my boyfriend and the other guy is handling our entrance to reality poorly. He knows I would do anything for him, but I can't get him to take my calls. He stood me up last night and everything's just a mess. Now we're back to the beginning It's just a feeling and no one knows yet But just because they can't feel it too Doesn't mean that you have to forget Only a few people who were in France know what happened and I know we're both hurting. I guess we're both just waiting for that call. It's a beautiful song. Very unlike a lot of Regina's stuff. It's absolutely mesmerizing. |
