The way I see it, it doesn't necessarily have to be that either of them are in a realationship. I always thought that the one person [for arguments sake, let's just say the girl] is best friends with the boy, and is also secretly crazy about him - "I've been a friend with unbiased views, then secretly lust after you" The way I saw it was that he knew it, and they were sleeping together or whatever, but to him it never meant anything. He likes someone else, and is talking to the girl about it, completely disregarding her feelings - "You're talking out so sexually about boys and girls, and your friggin' dreams" I just think it's sort of her getting angry at him for using her, but also angry at herself for letting him. She knows nothing's going to come of it, and knows he wants to be with someone else, so why isn't he? |

Personally, this song is just about how amazing and yet terrifying it can be to be with someone sometimes. Like, just being alone together, driving aimlessly makes you feel amazing, but then when you do get the chance to take it any further, it just scares the bejesus out of you. Heck, maybe I'm wrong, but that's the way I look at it. Also, it's kind of mirroring a situation I'm in atm, which could be slightly influencing my interpretation, but that's how I've always thought of it. Who cares whether it's about being gay or straight? People fall in love, simple. That's what it's all about to me. |

| I have to say, Susanna and the Magical Orchestra do an absolutely beautiful version of this song. It's a lot slower, and more haunting than JD's version, though in my opinion, no cover will ever beat the original, purely for the emotion that's behind it. | |
