I totally agree with x17xeternelletruthx17x. I myself and going through a very similar situation right now with a guy. And maybe I'm weird, but this song also makes me feel and envision different things in addition to that theory. When he says "You're the part of me that I don't wanna see." I think of one of my friends. We're pretty good friends, but at the same time I feel like we kinda bring out the worst in each other sometimes. And I think we see a lot of each other in each other, so when I'm around her, I see the part of me that I don't like that much. Also, when I hear "How can I believe when this cloud hangs over me, you're the part of me that I don't wanna see." I think of me. I've been battling some depression, self harm, and suicidal thoughts. It's gotten much better the past few months, but sometimes that part of me will come back. So that's the part of me that I don't wanna see. I just want to forget it all and move on. When he says "There's a place I see you follow me. Just a taste of all that might come to be." It's like I see my past and that part of my life following me, and I see what could come to be if that part of me takes over again. This is a very powerful song for me. It reminds me of so many different aspects of my life. And it's a nice mellow side of BB. Very few songs make me feel as much as I do when I hear this one. It's like it makes everything seem so clear. It's a pretty simple song, yet makes you think so much when you hear it. Beautiful! I think this song can be interpreted in so many ways. (as is the way with most songs) I personally think this is one of BB's best songs. This and Breath are my all time favorites from them. I've listened to this song so many times today. I just keep my i-pod on repeat. And BB is definitely one of my favorite bands. They're very talented. And from what other people have said about the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I am going to go watch that soon. It sounds like a good movie! |

This song is so touching. I also think that it's about the Columbine tradgedy. I love what Manson says about just listenting to the kids. And I agree that the media is more concerned about their ratings and not about the actual victims. It's sick and it really pisses me off. It's so sad that most people aren't a "somebody" until they die or they do something drastic to get attention that was never given to them otherwise. Manson is very skilled with words and writes beautiful lyrics. I hate that his image keeps so many people away from knowing his greatness....it kept me away until recently and I regret it. I am a new MM fan. From the moment I heard this song, I fell in love with it. It is my favorite of what I've heard so far. And the video is just amazing. I found it very interesting to know that MM dated Rose...she acted in my favorite TV show, Charmed, which I was a fan of way before I became familiar with MM. Anyways, I think that this song is about a girl who is depressed and nothing can save her from herself. You can take the lyrics "a pill" to literally mean drugs, but it could also mean other forms of self abuse such as cutting, an eating dissorder, or other ways of self abuse. She knows that none of those things will save her from herself. I take the lyrics "There's something cold and blank behind her smile"to mean that she looks happy on the outside, but inside she's hurting and is fucked up in reality. I take the lyrics "Her mouth was an empty cut" to mean that your mouth is like a cut on your face, but it was empty, meaning she had nothing to say anymore or she felt like what she had to say had no meaning and wasn't worth saying. I think that I can relate to this song. For the past several years, I've been depressed and it only seems to keep getting worse. I have an eating dissorder and I cut myself. To me, those are my pills that make me numb, dumb, and make me someone else. But in reality they won't save me from myself. They only help me come to a quicker end. When I'm around most people, I smile and fake being happy, but on the inside I'm not happy at all. And most people who see me would think I'm from a perfect world and nothing could be wrong with my life, but my world is not perfect. My "perfect world" kicked me out long ago to a cold, cruel world. And I feel that most anything I have to say has no worth to anyone, so my mouth is an empty cut. So yea, not to give you my life story or anything, but that is how I can relate to the song. It's a kickass song and video and I'm definitely becoming more of a MM fan! |

I really love this song. I too believe it is about rape...that's what I got out of it the first time I heard it. While I know this song was written about a rape, I relate it to my life as well. I have been betrayed by many people in my life. When it says "'Cuz your eyes told a tale Of an act of betrayal" I think of how I don't really talk much to anyone about a lot of the shit I've been through, but I know that if someone looked deep into my eyes they would see the pain...and eventually someone did. When the song gets to the chorus and starts to say "Can you stay strong Can you go on" I think of that person who saw the pain asking me this. I know now that there are people who care and I can trust, and I know they think this about me. I also have a lot of problems with my parents...we hardly have any relationship with each other, so when it says "Don't waste your whole life trying To get back what was taken away" It says to me that I don't need to waste my whole life trying to get that relationship back. And also with the other people who have betrayed me and other problems, I know I can't waste my whole life trying to get back the life I had before. I need to grow from these experiences and move on to a better, new life and move past all this shit. So that is my take on the song. I love it, and this album is addictive! |

Yes, the people in Africa are suffering, but if you are hooked on heroine like he was or other drugs, that life is hell as well. And this CD is amazing and full of so much emotion. If you actually listened to the band's interviews, you would know that they didn't write this music for it to be popular...they wrote it to get out their emotions. It just ended up getting popular and a lot of people identify with the music and it helps them. I honestly do not know what kind of crack wingedfeetxc is on! This song is amazing!!!! Yea, it may be kind of wrong and stuff, but it is freakin amazing! I am addicted to it! No pun intended. As for the meaning, it is pretty self explanitory. Great song!!!! |

I also think this song is about suicide. When I read the ideas about it being about a girl, it kind of made sense, but the suicide idea makes more sense to me. I think the "evil angel" is the angel of death I think the beginning is when he's thinking of killing himself. "I have the answer, spreading the cancer." Then of course, "Put me to sleep evil angel. Open you wings evil angel." is him asking the angel of death to take him. I also think that maybe he is starting to believe in God or is remembering when he did believe. "Don't leave me to die here..alone." I think that could be he doesn't want to be left alone and he wants the angel of death to take him to heaven where he won't be alone. Then he finds God when he says "I'm a believer." and "Hoping to find the savior." He may not want to believe, but he's starting to or something like that. Then it says "Put me to sleep evil angel." and "Why can't I breath evil angel." That to me is suicide. This is just what I think....does this make sense to anyone else? |

| I really love this song! It is very addicting b/c it has great lyrics and great instrumentals! I really love this new CD, but it is such a different style from Hybrid Theory and Meteora that I can't pick a favorite CD. I love them all! Hell, I just luv Linkin Park!!!! Great Song! | |

I am now in love with this song!!! I can't stop listening to it! It is my favorite off the CD, Phobia! I think it could either be about a break up or a split personality. I picture it as a break up b/c it kind of talks about something I'm going through with losing someone and they left a hole where my heart should be. I can also see the split personality side to it tho. Kind of like he's looking in a mirror and doesn't like who he sees and he's got to fight to make it though and get rid of the evil side or something. I could totally be wrong, but this is just what I think. |
