Personally to me right now where I am in my life, I feel like Maynard is speaking about someone that is passed over by their maker. That somewhere along the way God had forgotten about him (me). Why make us in his image but discard us from his grace. that's just me. |

I have listen to this song many times. I feel the connection in me to this song is: An emotional controlling relationship. Making someone believe that they are the one that is there for you.The only one that will ever be there. Step away from everything that can hurt you. Lay your head down, there is no monsters in your closet. I will comfort you. Pay no mind to what others tell you. I will hurt anyone that tries to hurt you. Falling like bodies. This song to me sounds like Gabrielle in "constantine and The phophecy. He has seen a world that he really has nothing for (humans), but he is mandated to his job. In many theories, gabrielle is considered half-angel/half-human and at all times has one wing in hell and the other spread toward the Father. This pisses him off because he cannot be human-hates their ability of free will, but he can not complete angel. He is trapt between two worlds that have both denied him room for growth or change--or revenge for feeling like he is a science project. He is a gaurdian and nothing more. There is a theory that Gabrielle is pissed and wants to start a war between upstairs, downstairs, and humans destroyed in the middle. He can't though, and remains pissed and trapt between a world of disgust, hate, and agony; and a world that declares him to remain true to his creation. At first, I thought it was about the singer-I assume-being trapt between the dark forces that has caused him a lot of agony to his mortal soul, and a light word that cause more hurt to his human side. Just a thought. Could be violently wrong! |
