i agree with some parts..yes opened up to the girl, but i dont think he loved her, because he's clearly over her in this song 'i can still remember when your city smelt exciting' ..as in he doesnt see it now! but at that time he made mistakes that allowed her to control him.. then 'if he was calm like you' is basically saying that if he'd been rational about it while 'locked up inside of your loops' he would have known that she'll do him no good,he would have 'said goodbye'.. 'promises it knew it couldn't keep' is just about having really high expectations from this girl,while at heart knowing that the mountain was far too steep.... is what i think. |

i have heard evry single kooks song so far,including rak+konk+b-sides.. and this still remains the best one. sometimes lyrics dnt even have to make sense. u jst FEEL them. i stopped saying 'naive' cuz this song has made the n-word sth sacred and so delicate..i love it. but thats a bad word. |

ok so the protagonist is obviously getting obsessed with doing this girl/guy.. i think that the physical attraction is so strong that he's created a fantasy about her.. if you look at all the confusing elements, like 'atlas in your head', 'broken hands'.. i think they are very symbolic and were probably in a dream. you know when you see all these mixed up objects/ppl/places..u dnt kno where u r,and then.. HER.thats all you see. thts all u can think about. he wants her, for sure..but i think its about a platonic love turned into physical,not the other way round.. if that makes sense ! x |
