| cerebella- reckless acts can be premeditated- have you heard of 1st degree murder?? and you guys read way too much into simple coldplay songs!!! he didnt lose a loved one, or have a near-death experience, and his drummer was not in a coma during 9/11. its a song with a crystal-clear message that should be heard, dont muddy it with sentimental speculation. | |

| juliiii- the head of john the baptist was wanted on a silver plate. john was a revered prophet, the predecessor of jesus and a "missionary in a foreign field" who came to a bitter end. the jerusalem bells ringing signaled jesus' coming, and the end of john's "reign." but undoubtedly, st. peter would call his name, also john was an ascetic, and it's pretty much impossible for an ascetic to go on a power trip, so im left going ??? i think the biblical references were not meant to be aligned and conjoined, but were merely an extended metaphor that was poorly researched. im kinda disappointed if coldplay is turning to the "psycho-babble" of the music industry- words without concepts, concepts without logic, and logic without context. | |

| ABSOLUTELY it's very dante and poe. she murdered her "king," who was either too domineering OR manipulating her with her emotions. perhaps she killed with some twisting device, which she then destroyed in fire, and dragged his body under the bed. the twisting part is mysterious! but it does seem like his body ended up under the bed, not consumed in a fire. hm... | |

in part, a sharp reprimand to the clergy who hid behind religion and became profiteers of spiritual confusion. the fog did become God; they pulled one image of God from a deep fog of ideas about who He might be. the heaven-made snow that falls around him is a truer representation of God, but the December (Christmas month) is still long and DARK, like the Dickensian Christmas with corruption and church inextricably connected. From these quotes: "I don't want to be a soldier Who the captain of some sinking ship would stow, far below" "You'd better lie low" "Was a long and dark December From the rooftops I remember" "My nerves are poles that unfroze" i get the picture of a protestor, disillusioned and tired of being repressed. He is on a rooftop, and says "Bury me in armor When I’m dead and hit the ground." he will die fighting (armor) but he suspects the fight will be like jumping from a rooftop, a futile fight doomed for failure. he will put his life and death into his cause. STUNNING words. |

1 think it's about a girl who can be physically intimate, but is still learning how to be emotionally intimate. he longs for this intimacy, and isnt sure if she loves him, so he is very tender towards her in the hope that she will put her trust in him and give in to his love. she probably doesnt know if she loves him, because she hasnt allowed herself to get close to him, but lets physical intimacy hold the relationship together. 1 stones taught me to fly 2 love, it taught me to lie 3 life, it taught me to die 4 so it's not hard to fall when you float like a cannonball 5 courage, teach me to be shy 1 stones= baggage. his troubles taught him to overcome 2 love taught him some people require extreme sensitivity 3 life taught him when to let things die 4 it's not hard to fall in love (/give in), it is natural for him 5 he wants courage to be patient, and to give her the space she needs |

the shorter story= no love, no glory> devastatingly accurate >We'll both forget the breeze> new love; invigorating but so painfully brief >The colder water> the colder water of the lonely high sea, or the cold water of reality >The pupil in denial> he denies that they cant be together (she says they cant be, and in the song he realizes "so it is..." no longer in denial) >Did I say that I loathe you?> she doesnt want him to feel like she rejected him >Did I say that I want to Leave it all behind?> she wanted to pursue him what sets this song apart is his vocal passion; his pain that drenches the song, pain for his own broken heart and pain for her not having the hero she deserves. stunning words and graceful melody. |
