@[sooverthisbs:20888] this is exactly what I was going to write...he escaped the hanging and got married and was like wow this isn't any better, then looks at Eric Roberts limp body longingly. It's so clear now. When he posted the video on Sept 11 2015 he captioned it "watch me hang." And the idea for the video was his. I'm chilled. When I met him in Oct 2015 he seemed awfully thin and I felt concerned. I felt myself staring at his legs b/c they were so thin. I couldn't help it. I feel so bad. He was a great man, and he loved too hard. And most likely felt used and abused. My heart aches for him because he was truly the most giving and compassionate and down to earth rock star that ever existed. |

Sad song…this is probably my favorite album ever. I think Chris is an INFP like me.
Anyways, I think this is about his alcohol problem and loving someone while simultaneously pushing her away. She is angry with him because he keeps leaving her or disappearing. He can't make up his mind and disappears because he's reclusive/depressed and has turbulent emotions. He always comes back because he is in need of love though he hates himself. And she always takes him back because she loves him, but she hates how he is treating her. She can't take the back and forth and she's falling apart because of his inconsistency and emotional manipulation. |

Based on my experience, this song is about a guy who views himself so lowly in comparison to the woman he loves that he believes she would have a better life if she did not love him anymore. So he pushes her away in order to save her from destruction. He hates himself and doesn't find himself worthy of her pure love. He's putting her on a pedestal and feels undeserving. He is depressed. |

Like everyone when I first listened to this song I was like wtf?! Kinda weird beginning, haha. I was born in the late 80s so I didn't get much Prince exposure even though I know a few of his songs. But the lyrics are mad cool! Such a perfect song. Every song Brandon covers is pretty solid w/ lyrics. I have no doubt in my mind why he covers the songs he does.
This song really grew on me it makes me feel really good :) And I heard its the song they end their Monuments and Melodies tour with!!! Can't wait to see them August 9!!! *sigh* they sang it tonight on Jimmy Fallon and of course they were flawless. Mikey's solo is sex! |

WOW! I heard this song on Youtube by accident yesterday, randomly youtubing Incubus songs to listen to because I'm lazy to keep changing CDs, and wow! Why wasn't this on Light Grenades? It is just so great! It makes me feel all weird inside, its got too much feeling, but that's not bad, I'm just too emotional...haha. I believe it is about depression because I just don't see Brandon getting so drunk and not having a ride. And he's got a great way of hiding his feelings in his songs. Initially one would think it's about being drunk, but everyone knows this is BRANDON BOYD and his lyrics have another meaning close to his heart.
It's so mellow and the vocals are excellent, especially when he goes "surviiii--iiiive." God he's amazing. |

This song means Brandon is awesome! lmao really, it reminds me of my parents, they're negativity is constant and you'd just rather be by yourself than be with them. Just when you think things are going okay, their negativity will bring you down...to the point you can't stand being around them. Brandon's lyrics are brilliant and I think everyone can relate. It's too bad his ex girlfriends suck :-( |
