I love all the allusions. and I'm gonna have to listen for that repeated melody. It could also be elsewhere... or they did the same thing with other melodies. |

first off, homy9015, just because someone is Jewish doesn't mean the don't recognize Jesus. that is the old testament, what both Jews and Christians worship. its the Christians that add the new testament. and I personally think it has something to do with a suicide, like the first part is the family trying to help them, and then the second part is the afterlife. either way its a great song. |

The title it an allusion to a book by Ernest J. Gaines. It is all an allusion to the book, for example the opening is the trial, and the fear of the execution, and then it builds like the characters change. you really need to read the book (or the spark notes for it) to really enjoy this song. |

It does seem like it is about the previous record label, which would have been on this album, because it is the last on that companies, then it switches a few times after that. but I think that is the "secret" meaning, and it is meant to appear as Prometh said. One thing about Symphony X is the they us a lot of allusions to mythology and history, and they seem like the kind of people that loved English class in high school, and now are using everything that they ever learned form it in their songs. |

If you really want to know the meaning of this song, you must have read the epic The Odyssey, and then you can see how everything in this song connects to the book, and intact alludes to many of their songs. Symphony X is one of those bands that everything has a important meaning, and is full allusions that you have to really pick out. and the whole thing about saying nobody was so that when Polyphemus got stabbed in the eye, he would scream for help and say nobody did it. but then Odysseus reveals his name as he sails away. |
