U2 – Beautiful Day Lyrics 17 years ago
i love this song. i wasn't born in the golden age of u2, but ever since i listened to kurt nilsen sing this in world idol i was totally amazed by the song. it's so darn optimistic, and lush and comforting and ALWAYS sends goosebumps down my arms. thank you u2 for this wonderful song.

Asa / Bukola Elemide – Fire On The Mountain Lyrics 17 years ago
i absolutely love this song. it's really, in essence, a good, heartfelt and simple sociopolitical song. it doesn't SCREAM anarchy and rebellion against authority (like certain punk rock songs do), instead what i like about it is its detailed and modern commentary on the "fire on the mountain" happening all around us today, leading us to question whether our society is as perfect as we take it for granted to be. dedicated to Africa, the song also sheds light on the situation there.

haha, in my mind i can clearly see this song being performed at LIVE 8. and it definitely should be, if the event happens again. everyone wants peace, and i think the people of Africa (directly mentioned in the song) definitely need it. go asa.

Joanna Newsom – Cosmia Lyrics 17 years ago
haha, lots of people have talked about her voice, i just find her voice like her music on this album. slightly offbeat, strange and possibly distracting on the first listen, yet it really grows on you to the point that it sounds totally engaging and unique. for the record, i like her voice. =)

to me, this song is so lush, so mysterious, and so fitting for something to remember a person by. the surreal but natural imagery used by Ms Newsom really captures the attention of the listener, especially the moths by the fire. this is striking as death is very accurately captured in the scene.

Björk – All Is Full of Love Lyrics 17 years ago
when the simplicity of this song gives it amazing depth, i wholeheartedly agree that the (somewhat) "vague-ness" of Bjork's lyrics are very open to interpretation, giving it many meanings in many contexts.

to me, this song is a powerful ballad of love, affected by the artist and affecting the listener. it reminds us that this omnipresent force of love, constantly being reminded to us, sometimes taken for granted, is always there and always will be there. i think the power of the song is its amazing ability to affirm and comfort at the same time.

what's more, Bjork's vocals on this is unearthly and magnificent. one of the most moving vocals i have heard in a song, if not possibly the most moving. (just for a side note, her exceptional LIVE performance at NYC can be found on YouTube).

i heard somewhere that this song was predominantly created from recordings of some of the sounds of machines. i think the irony is that, though they are lifeless, loveless machines, they can sound so alive and full of love, showing how love can permeate even these things "all around you".
