| Cage the Elephant – Shake Me Down Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| 'Cut my hair on a silver cloud' and 'Broken sound' made me think of both our hair fading to gray and our ability to hear slipping away. | |

Ah, probably my second favorite on their album, after Boy of the Stars! Love the bits of wobbling synth in the background! |

Unbelievable that no one has commenter here yet! Pandora introduced me to this song, and it is fantastic! Definitely going to check out the rest of their stuff. |

| Ahhh I want more of this! I wish they'd made a full version of The Suburbs in this eerie/simple/synth style! | |

I think it's about two friends, who smoke weed all day, making lots of talk about quitting and making something of their lifes. But they are just in denial, not wanting to see the truth that they won't ever change: "Blindfold a new direction Stop asking better questions Don’t figure out That we’re never getting out" |

| The Offspring – Kristy, Are You Doing OK? Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Seems to be about this girl, Kristy, being sexuall abused at a young age: "...when we were just kids..." "A rose that won't bloom Winter's kept you Don't waste your whole life trying To get back what was taken away" and especially: "Oh, clouds of time Seem to rain on innocence left behind" Yet she tried to keep it to herself, but the friend can see it in her eyes and behaviour. |

Substance addiction, take your pick. Seems as though the addict is aware of his bad decisions and of all the help around him, but he can never embrace it, or when he does, stick to it. |

The more I read and listen the less I hear about war, and more I feel the school shootings coming through. It seems as if he is going back and forth between the shooters and someone who stands up to him, the first person coming to mind being a teacher or instructor. It reminds me of the people who stood up to doors and helped students escape during the VT shootings and lost their lives, mainly: "Risk my life to keep my people from harm. Authority vested in me, I'll sacrifice with my brothers in arms." (The others who stood up as well) and "Through this doorway, What's on the other side? Never knowing exactly what I'll find." But the shooter is there, "Locked and loaded," While the students scream and try to escape. "voices screaming "Let's Go!"" Finally: "I'll take your life that others may live Oh that's just the way it goes." Is the shooter taking the person standing up's life in lieu of the others escaping. Anyway it's sliced, great song |
