For the first time today, I actually *listened* to this song. I know it's only a silly Top 40 song, but WTF? Strike One: >> I was so wrong for so long >> Only tryin' to please myself This guy's probably an egotistical jerk. If he himself sees that he was only looking out for himself, then I'm pretty damn sure he was a douche. Strike Two: >> So, no, I know I should have treated you better >> But me and you were meant to last forever Probably as a result of his own conceit, he treats his spouse poorly. If you wanted to be with someone forever, I'm pretty sure mistreating them is not the way to go. Strike Three: >> Girl, I was caught up in her lust [...] >> I know what I did wasn't clever [...] >> I don't want you to leave me >> Though you caught me cheatin' Aah, the truth comes out! | I've loved this song since forever and never stopped to think what this song actually means or what it's about. (There's just something about Sia's voice - especially in this song - that kind of makes me not care what the song is about as long as she continues to sing it). But anyways, this songs is amazing and now that I have some understanding of it (thanks maryannsabitch - on both drug abuse and relationship issues) I love it even more. | |

Yeah, I think that's about it. She's fed up of the relationship, of him wanting to be/being with someone else. I love that little instrumental part halfway through this song. The strings are remarkable. |

I love this song. One of the best from "19". "And if I stay / I'll be alive" I thought that line was "I'll be a lie"... makes more sense to me...? |
